'X-Men: Dark Phoenix' trailer: Story of a broken girl
A new trailer of “X-Men: Dark Phoenix” has been released online. The movie shows the evolution of Jean Grey from a troubled little girl who unwittingly causes an accident to one of the most powerful mutants who unleashes her rage on the world.
Jean appears to cause the death of her parents in a car accident. She immediately knows that something is wrong with her, and she ends up at the X-Mansion. Professor Charles Xavier (James McAvoy) tries to help, starting with trying to change the perception that she needs fixing.
One mistake Charles does is hide the truth from Jean about her past. He says that this is to protect her, but Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) points out that the professor has lied to the girl. Sophie Turner plays the grown up Jean. Things will become difficult for Jean as she doesn’t appear to have any friends, and on top of that Smith (Jessica Chastain) tells her that she doesn’t belong there, presumably speaking about the X-Mansion.
After finding out that Charles has been keeping things from her, Jean will seek Magneto (Michael Fassbender) to learn the truth.
Charles can sense from a distance that Jean is changing. By the time a team of mutants sent by the professor reach Jean, she is full of rage, unleashing her powers on the police and the military. In her anger she will go after the mutants.
The world is on the brink of collapse, and Magneto isn’t interested in hearing Charles give a speech to try and save it. The situation becomes explosive, but the professor is still holding on to a shred of hope that he can save Jean.
Amidst all the turmoil in the movie, there is also a love story. Jean and Cyclops (Tye Sheridan) are expected to become a couple eventually, based on the comics, and the trailer teases a tender moment between the two.
