Xbox One Launching with Exclusive Machinima App, Developers Enjoy Cloud Power, Compatibility with Windows 8 Apps Revealed?
The Xbox One may have a new advantage, as the Machinima support has been announced for its launch date on Nov 22. Over at the Xbox Newswire, the company has announced that there will be a new and improved app for the feature and that it will take off from where the Xbox 360 has left.
One of the newest features that the Machinima app will deliver is the ability to enjoy the Snap feature, which allows you to do two things at once on the screen. All you need to do is say the magic words, "Xbox, Snap Machinima" and the app will launch on the right hand side of your screen.
Machinima Wingman will also be available for some select titles. This will be able to feature the likes of exclusive and custom-created videos like tutorials and strategies to make your gameplay experience even more fun. So far, this has already been proven for "Dead Rising 3," as seen in the video below.
Machinima is also integrated with the Xbox One SmartGlass feature, so you can also view the Machinima via a tablet or smartphone if you don't want to sacrifice a part of your TV screen for the app.
Xbox Finally Flexing its Cloud Power
Game developers and gamers also have another feature that they can look forward to with the Xbox One: power of the cloud. The always online feature of the Xbox One has been received with flak as the thought of an always-on gaming will be proven impossible for some gamers who may not have ample access to the Internet.
But this time, Microsoft is introducing the Xbox Live Compute, a new feature that will provide the strength of the Xbox One's cloud to help developers create better games for the next-gen console.
"Our intent was to enable developers to take advantage of server resources in their games without having to deal with the challenges that come with building, managing and running servers at scale," said John Bruno, lead program manager for the Xbox Live team.
"So, we chose to provide cloud features that allow the game creators to push the limits of their gameplay experiences and apply the bulk of their investments to game creation, rather than server and operational resources," he added.
The best thing about this is that it will be free, so ideally, the creation of games will be much easier for the Xbox One. Part of what makes the Xbox One cloud a powerful feature is that it allows higher fidelity game experiences.
There will also be better multi-player game experiences because, now, you have dedicated servers running for the games. This will be rolled out for the Xbox One title game "Titanfall."
Improving the gameplay for particular games will also be made possible now, and you no longer have to download the game update to make this possible as they can be easily updated and improved on the cloud.
Windows 8 App Synchronisation Hinted?
A fully integrated system seems to be the end product that Microsoft is aiming for with all of its devices, from the computer systems and mobile down to its gaming device, Xbox One.
And according to a latest report from Neowin, Dell may just have outed the fact that Windows 8 apps can run on the next-gen gaming device.
The latest find was seen in a pre-order page on Dell's store, wherein the it was mentioned that your "favorite Windows 8 apps" will be able to run on and be synced with the Xbox One, be it on the desktop, tablet, phone or TV for a more unified experience.
While this is certainly a big progress that has not yet been revealed by Microsoft, it may also be only pointing to the Xbox One's SmartGlass feature, which works well with the Xbox One console. Hopefully, there is more to this bit of find than just the SmartGlass feature because Microsoft has been heavily hinting at a more integrated gaming and entertainment experience for the Xbox One.
