Xbox One November Games with Gold revealed, backward compatibility explained
November is bringing a lot of games on the Xbox One. Xbox Live Gold members are getting the best end of the deal with the newly announced November Games with Gold selections.
As Microsoft had promised before, November will introduce more games on the Xbox One with the help of backward compatibility. This time, “DiRT 3,” featuring rally cars and “Dungeon Siege III” are available on the Xbox 360 and Xbox One via backward compatibility, announced over at the Xbox Wire. The former title is available from Nov. 1 to 15, while the action RPG title will be free from Nov. 16 to 30.
On the Xbox One, the free game from Nov. 1 to 30 is “Pneuma: Breath of Life.” This adventure and puzzler game tackles with the power of decisions and the mind. From Nov. 16 to Dec. 15, Xbox One owners can also get “Knight Squad,” a medieval-inspired multiplayer title that will put players against seven other enemies.
To access the new games, Xbox One owners will need to use their Xbox 360 consoles to download the Games with Gold for the Xbox 360. From there, the games will then show up in the My games & apps under Ready to Install.
New games are not the only features added to the Xbox platform. Xbox One owners can now also enjoy playing multiplayer with friends, whether on the Xbox One or Xbox 360.
With backward compatibility coming to the Xbox One in November, Microsoft has detailed exactly how the gaming console will make use of the feature. It appears that there are some conditions that need to be met for those who want to also access DLCs on the Xbox One.
According to Game Informer, the DLCs will need to be purchased via the official Xbox website or through the Xbox 360 console. Direct purchase via the Xbox One will is not yet supported, as the backward compatibility feature will not yet emulate the Xbox 360 store.
“We will support both digital and disc-based entitlements for Xbox 360 games running on Xbox One,” said an Xbox representative to Game Informer.
The good thing here is that Microsoft has stated that it is considering a full emulation for store purchases straight on the Xbox One. But it will not be out come the launch of the feature by Nov. 12.
