The only good reason for swapping out the original Xbox One hard drive would be the potential lack of storage space. According to the Engadget, the experiment had yielded the fact that there was only a slight change in speed (mere seceonds) on the changed Xbox One hard drive.

Another support that can be attributed for the Xbox One is repartitioning a hard drive replacement for the Xbox One, so long as it is Linux-compatible. The original solution requires you to copy files, repartitioning the new hard drive, and only rebooting the device for a new HDD.

However, Microsoft prefers that you skip on experimenting to avoid any unnecessary risks to your Xbox One. Engadget reports that Microsoft has already acknowledged this, and thus would release external drive support and other storage-related features in the future.

Moreover, this may be a nod at a possible coincidental release of the ID@Xbox-- a program that aims for the commercial Xbox One console to be transformed into your very own developer kit, and thus allow for more people to be able to develop their own apps.

Nevetheless, it was announced before that the ID@Xbox software is still in the development stage, and thus gamers should avoid trying to unlock the dev settings for now.
