YouTuber PewDiePie marks milestone; first to hit 10 billion views
YouTube sensation PewDiePie recently made social media history after his channel reached 10 billion views. He became the first person to ever accomplish such a feat on the video streaming site.
PewDiePie’s real name is Felix Kjellberg. The Swedish gamer has created a name for himself by being one of the most famous people on YouTube, as seen in his ability to frequently reach new digital milestones. On Sept. 6, he became the first person to have a YouTube channel that hit 10 billion views. On July 19, 2014, PewDiePie reached his first milestone by becoming the most-viewed channel on YouTube, beating the previous leader, Rihanna’s VEVO channel.
Tube Filter reports that PewDiePie created his YouTube channel on April 29, 2010. The oldest video that can be viewed by the public dates back to Oct. 2, 2010. Using Oct. 2 as a starting date, 1,801 days have passed before he made this latest world record. Within that timeframe, Kjellberg has uploaded about 2,475 YouTube videos or an average of 1.37 videos every day in the past five years. This can also be the reason his videos have grown to be very popular and his channel scanned by more people over time.
Each of his video has been viewed at an average of 4.04 million times. The least-viewed video he has is dated February 28, 2011, titled “Bulletstorm Highlights,” which currently has 35,695 views. His most-viewed video is dated June 4, 2013, titled “Funny Montage #1,” which currently has 68.8 million views. The video generated the high number of views because it used to be the trailer to the official PewDiePie channel.
This means that PewDiePie’s YouTube channel has an average of 5.5 million views per day, or 231,350 views per hour. This also means he has 3,855 views per minute, or 64 views per second. Kjellberg earns millions from his YouTube popularity. He has over 39 million subscribers at present, based on the same report by Tube Filter. Currently, the second most-viewed channel on YouTube is FunToyzCollector, which was formerly DisneyCollectorBR, with 7.8 billion views.
