Apple has always been a favorite topic of the rumor mill. For instance, it was once rumored that Apple will after sometime transfer OS X over to ARM. It was also reported that the A7 processor will move to 64-bit. Despite claims that the 64-bit move is not possible, the rumor mill continues to talk about what Apple might do with its products. Some of them come true, some of them do not. This time, one analyst claims the 13-inch iPad may be a MacBook hybrid.

A Barclays Capital analyst suggests that Apple is not planning on transferring ARM chips in their MacBooks. Rather, they want to transform their iPads into laptops or a hybrid. The tech giant wanted to provide an alternative to their Mac line.

This seems logical as many companies like Sony and Lenovo have already started their bid on hybrids. It is highly likely that Apple will want to catch up with them. This is likely true since Sony and Lenovo have been earning praises and impressive sales of their hybrids.

According to Ben A. Reitzes, Barclays Capital analyst, Apple may be working on developing iOS for more powerful and bigger iPads. These iPads are supposed to be similar to MacBook. Combining these two products can give Apple one of its best selling products yet. Mr Reitzes thinks it can be a sure money maker for the company. After all, iPads and MacBooks are best sellers on their own.

Combining the two would mean merging their market potential and appeal.

The 13-inch iPad may also include a built-in keyboard. Or if Apple really wants to compete with hybrids, it will be a convertible - a tablet turning laptop. It will have a similar mechanism as Microsoft's Surface tablet or Lenovo's Yoga.

Reitzes also notes how this iPad can improve Apple's sales and revenue considerably. Predicted cost is around $650. The forecast also said that Apple may be able to sell $10 million units initially. This can be more depending on what the tech giant will decide to include in the features package.

There are many skeptics about it though it will not hurt to see a 13-inch convertible iPad come to life.
