The Nexus 4 has been bumped up to Jelly Bean 4.3, and LG's upcoming flagship is renamed LG G2 - two recent developments that point to the looming arrival of the Key Lime Pie-powered Nexus 5.

These two activities all involved LG, the device maker from South Korea and tapped by Google in 2012 to assemble the vanilla Android flavoured Nexus 4. According to blog reports, the company is gradually clearing the way for the impending touchdown of Google's 2013 flagship - the Nexus 5.

This week, LG provided another signal that the rumoured twin-handset of the Nexus 5 is coming by August. Initially known as the Optimus G2, the handset has been renamed LG G2. The shift aims to focus more attention on LG's G smartphone branding.

"Our vision is to make LG's newest G devices synonymous with excellence, raising the bar even further for the ultimate in user experience," the Asian tech firm was reported by CNET as saying in a PR statement.

Task number one accomplished, LG then turned its attention to the Nexus 4, which according to Engadget was recently updated to Jelly Bean 4.3, the same Android sweet that experts said will be outed end of July.

The same report cited a certain Jeff Williams, who posted a screenshot of the Nexus 4 he allegedly acquired via Craigslist. The leaked image showed the stock Android device on the latest Jelly Bean, still officially hidden by Google, with the build number JWR66N.

Also, some members of XDA Developers scrutinised the unofficial jump and concluded that Mr Williams bought a genuine Nexus 4 running on Jelly Bean 4.3 that was designed by Google engineers.

With two more roadblocks out of the way for LG, the company is focused for the moment on its August news briefing, which according to Android watchers will be the special occasion for the unveiling of the LG G2.

The G2 is said to draw its power from a quad-core Snapdragon 800 CPU that clocks at a maximum speed of 2.3GHz with a 2GB of RAM. Its main camera will have a 13MP sensor.

Pretty much, this will be the same specs for the Google Nexus 5, which is pegged for an October release date, debuting in the process with Key Lime Pie.
