The specs and features, rumours as they are, about the Nexus 5 abound yet the clues that solidly tip of the vanilla Android handset's release date are hard to come by at the moment.

But thanks to unintended hints, the day we'll get to see the Nexus 4 successor seems more real and it could even materialise a bit earlier than predicted, which if recent reports are to be believed should occur between Oct 14 and 31.

Prior to that stretch of more than two weeks, two major indicators recently came out - one quickly showing a completed and fully operational handset that was claimed as the Nexus 5 and the other, accessories that supposedly will fit well with Google's 2013 signature smartphone.

The brief details about these Nexus 5 release signals are below:

The 9to5Google Nexus 5 clip

For the millions of Nexus watchers, looking at the Nexus 5, all powered up, even via a short clip is nothing short of the real deal. The handset is question doesn't look like any of the Android device already in circulation. It resembles the Nexus 4 but definitely the gadget on the video was not the same one that Google had rolled late last year.

And the plot surrounding the very short film, though not original, is quite interesting. One Google employee was tasked to test drive the 'prototype' and decided that it's best to perform the assignment in real settings. While partying, supposedly part of the test stage, the device slipped out of the pocket. Next thing we know, the world got a glimpse of a big Google secret.

The video, verified or not, at least pointed to the possibility that a working Nexus 5 is already out there, further building up to the likelihood that its rollout is not too very far.

Amazon displays Nexus 5 screen guard and cases

Weeks ago, Amazon started 'selling' Nexus 5 accessories, cases and screen protectors actually, which immediately screams out the idea that the company who made these companion products got an advanced idea of the handset's build. Automatically, many assumed that the gadget's debut could be just around the corner.

Yet according to Gotta Be Mobile, Spigen, maker of the products, has admitted that design and dimensions of its present Nexus 5 accessories are based on calculated estimates. The firm dismissed suggestions that it has an inside knowledge of Google's plan for its 2013 flagship.

Be that as it may, the move by Spigen only stoked the speculations that Google will soon let out its challenger for Apple's iPhone 5S and Samsung's Galaxy Note 3. And the landing is likely to happen much sooner than whispered about.

Why not? The supposed templates have been established, pointing to the LG G2 and Moto X as the likely models, which suggest that the Nexus 5 is either a high-end or mid-range device. Or both. Bottom line is, Android fans will pretty much get what they had asked for.

Rumours surrounding the Nexus 5 release date vary for now. Some reports point to end of October while others maintain it is Oct 14, blending the launch and rollout move of Google into a single day.
