The iPhone 6 release date this 2014 is highly anticipated due to its reported new form-factor, likely much thinner and lighter than the iPhone 5S was in 2013 and boasting of larger screen profiles - specifically in 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch builds.

That the devices are slim, paperweight and with stretched screen is once again hinted by fresh evidences that point to an entirely different iPhone make.

4.7-iPhone 6 is nearly as big as HTC One M8

Apple Insider picked up a report from Japan and Korea that purportedly showed a mock-up of the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 flanked by the 4-inch iPhone 5S and the 5-inch HTC One 2014 edition. It can be seen from one of the pics that the device on the middle clearly dwarfs over its older sibling and is the same size of its Android rival.

While the report has stated that the render hardly confirms the final iPhone 6 make, it added that the representation is aligned with earlier insinuations that the next iPhone, both models in fact, are getting the supersized treatment plus reconfigures on the rear flash placement and the sleep/awake control button location.

5.5-inch iPhone 6 is taller than Galaxy Note 3

In another report, Apple Insider pointed to a YouTube clip that was uploaded by TechSmartt, which showcased a concept of the iPhone 6, this time the 5.5-inch phablet edition. The video pitted the iPhone with one of its would-be rivals, the Samsung Galaxy Note 3.

It turned out that even if the 5.7-inch Note 3 bests the iPhone 6 in screen size, the latter is taller because of its wider top and bottom bezels that sandwiched the screen. The mock up hinted that the margins weren't shrunk at all as they will hold the ear speaker, front cam sensor and the Touch ID below - all of which appeared to have retained their iPhone 5S specifications.

100 million iPhone 6 units by end of 2014

So with killer features, bannered by larger screens and even slimmer build, seemingly confirmed and geared for both the iPhone 6 variants, investment firm Cowen & Company is forecasting a record 2014 and 2015 for Apple, backed mostly by its flagship smartphone.

The prospect of huge sales this year's Christmas season and spilling over into 2015 awaits the next iPhone, Cowen told Apple Insider, adding that supplies of the iPhone 6 ready to ship out by the end of December 2014 should easily reach 100 million units.

Cowen did not specify if Apple will actually clear out its iPhone 6 stocks by the close of the year but it clearly indicated that the sales figures would readily climb up, thanks to the wider availability of LTE access and Apple's loyal fan base that numbers into tens of millions.

Hundreds of millions ready for iPhone 6 upgrade

It is estimated that more than 300 million iPhones are in active circulation and according to Business Insider, at least half of these users, scattered around the world, are eligible, ready and itching to jump to the next iPhone offering from Apple.

The data best explains why Apple has finally embraced the raging phablet fever with the tech giant likely to see hordes of switchers from the Android platform once the first iOS hybrid smartphone becomes official, added BGR in a separate report.

And the epic windfall should start raining down on September 2014, which most analysts believed is the appointed time for the iPhone 6 release date this year.
