3 Compelling Reasons Why the LG Nexus 5 is the Must-Have 2013 KitKat 4.4 Smartphone
No doubt, the LG Nexus 5 draws a lot of attention and as its release date nears, consumers are given more reasons to give the smartphone more than a second look.
Earlier in the week, the purported service manual of the stock Android device leaked out, in the process providing a generous amount of information on its form-factor in the form of well-defined sketches and its supposed killer features.
What came out were convincing enough for those planning to own the phone it hits the market. It turned out, however, that the torrent of details flowing out and gradually forming the final make of the Nexus 5 are yet to let up.
The latest pieces of the Nexus 5 puzzle are falling into their proper places and the list below briefly details the powerful reasons why the handset is a must buy for the holiday season.
Google and LG will deliver a major upgrade from the Nexus 4
When Google let out the Nexus 4 late last year, the device quickly gained a heavy following. In fact, the demand for the handset was too high that its maker can hardly oblige. The reaction was not surprising at all as the mobile phone embodies two qualities that appeal most to gadget lovers - muscle and affordability.
Now, it is the Nexus 5 that will take the centre-stage and if the new screenshots published by Gadget Pipeline are of any indications, the phone indeed will gallop with so much power firing up its engine.
The images confirmed that buyers will be getting a 1080p device with a Full HD 5-inch screen, a Snapdragon 800 chip, 2GB of RAM, an Adreno 330 GPU and 8MP of RAM. Some of the components contradict the earlier reports but in general the whole package is spot-on.
Better storage capacity and longer battery life
Phone Arena reported this week that Google has boosted the Nexus 5 internal memory, adding that the on-board storage space of the handset will start at 16GB. That would mean the 8GB standard used in the Nexus 4 will be a thing of the past.
And there is a bonus, two actually. For the file hoarders Google would serve a 32GB variant, the report said, which will be packed with a higher capacity battery rating though the actual number were withheld for now.
Note that a 2300mAh battery was floated as the stock battery that will come right out of the box with the Nexus 5. It is likely that the other variant will be fitted with a 3000mAh though it should be noted that nothing is etched on stone for now.
Then a bit of reality setting in, as far as pricing is concerned, which brings us to the last topic.
Revised Nexus 5 pricing
Again from Phone Arena, Google's new hero phone will reportedly retail at $300 for the 16GB variant and $400 for the 32GB edition. Yes the price hike relative to the Nexus 4 amounts to $50 but according to some analysts, it is wholly negligible considering the giant jump from last year's specs.
The Nexus 5 is faster, has a higher screen resolution, a beastly GPU, capacious digital locker inside, a longer stretch of battery hours, insanely great camera features and best of all a superfast LTE connectivity, which was absent last year.
This combo of great specs and features alone justifies the $50 mark up for the 32GB Nexus 5, Android watchers said.
At the moment, the only thing left hanging is when the device is coming out. The popular belief is the Nexus 5 release date will follow shortly after the Oct 14 Google event, which means no later than the end of the month.
