Three possible new features of the Google Nexus 6 on release date are revealed this week, two of which are hinted by the upcoming LG G3 flagship phone and the last one from a soon-to-be issued USB technology.

As the LG G3 is widely rumoured as the strongest candidate to become the next Nexus smartphone base-model, fans of native Android devices are always on the watch on developments that could signal the G3's final make.

2K Nexus 6 display

In a new report, AndroidSAS floated the likelihood that the G3, and so its touted twin - the Nexus 6, will sport a 2K display panel with an eye-popping screen resolution of 2560 x 1440. If true, then both the LG G3 and the Nexus 6 will easily beat all its 2014 smartphone rivals that also deliver Full HD panel rendering.

The same AndroidSAS report also claimed, citing an unnamed but "very reliable source," that 2K resolution on the G3 is next to reality and the device is set for unveiling between May and June 2014.

This assertion suits with earlier reports that Google would allow a peek of the completed Nexus 6 during its annual I/O Developers Conference on June 24 though the tech giant has clearly indicated that rollout of the Nexus 5 replacement will not happen until the second half of the year.

Phablet Nexus?

But the AndroidSAS scoop doesn't end there. As if complement the incredible screen capabilities of the Nexus 6, it appears too that Google has decided to GO BIG with the device. From the 4.99-inch that was seen in the 2013 iteration, the next model would be a certified phablet, showing off a screen size between 5.3-inch and 5.5-inch.

These profiles, of course, are based on how huge the LG G3 display could be.

Superfast USB port and connector

And perhaps just in time for the Nexus 6 debut this year, Type-C USB 3.1 wired connection technology would become the new standard for all mobile devices, CNET said in a report, adding that the feature should come out of the box with gadgets scheduled for release beginning in July 2014.

Described as a Lightning-like port and cable that Apple had introduced back in 2012 via the iPhone 5, Type C USB will have reversible connectors, according to BGR, meaning the compatible port will accommodate the connector regardless of the side or angle.

CNET noted too that the upcoming USB tech is designed to be future-proof, it will have a longer life cycle, and like its immediate predecessor, the USB 3.0, will facilitate breakneck data transfer and quick charging.

Both the port and the connector are also durable, lasting some 10,000 times of repeated friction throughout its lifetime.

In the end, it remains to be seen if these fresh features will end up packed with the Nexus 6 release date, which is pegged to happen between September and October 2014.
