The Google Nexus 5 is one giant phone, relative to the Nexus 4, on release date, according to new reports that point to the stock Android handset passing through the U.S. FCC approval process.

Reports from Engadget have indicated that the Nexus flagship smartphone is joining the full-sized phablet class with a phone screen that spans diagonally at five inches or 4.96-inch to be precise.

The power under the hood will be sourced from a quad-core Snapdragon 800 CPU that Qualcomm will supply, with a likely speed of 2.3GHz, tops, as suggested on earlier reports, basing the gadget on LG G2.

Another key addition that is absent from the 2012 Nexus rendition is the LTE radio signal, the FCC approval document showed, confirming hopes by Android watchers that the Nexus 5 is equipped with superfast wireless broadband connectivity. Key parts of this exciting menu are the following: Bluetooth 4.0, NFC and dual-band 802.11 b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi protocol.

And as promised by Google that its next signature mobile phone will be serving its users for longer hours, a massive battery will be on hand, bearing an impressive rating of 2700mAh, which can be recharged wirelessly, a feature that is again built-in with the device.

The Qi standard is used on the upcoming smartphone so in theory, all wireless charging kits within the same sphere will function with the Nexus 5.

These latest specs join up with the rumoured features of a 13MP main shooter and 3GB of RAM that ensures the device will react in a snap at every bid of users.

More likely too, the Nexus 5 will introduce the new Android build, which Google has recently unveiled bearing the number 4.4 or the sweet codename KitKat, obviously in honour of the popular candy bar.

All these charged up come-ons should slip out of the box once the Nexus 4 replacement becomes official, an occasion that should happen late Sept or early October, according to analysts.

Even without a definite brand that will assemble the vanilla Android gadget, rumours have been swirling that the Goole smartphone is already on production stage, with the names LG and Motorola floating as the strongest candidates.

That the actual Nexus 5 is already completed gained more traction when in uncloaking KitKat, Google inadvertently revealed the handset in a short clip, showing a man taking pictures using the purported smartphone.

Release date of the Nexus 5 is reportedly set on Oct 31, a conclusion drawn on recent moves by Google to give exclusive $100 discounts on Nexus 4 purchases via the Google Play Store, leading to stock outs of the 8GB model.
