4 Likely Killer Features of Google Nexus 6 on Release Date: 2K Display, 64-Bit CPU, IP67 Shield & 16MP Rear Cam
The Nexus 6 is fast shaping up as the best Google flagship smartphone ever a few months before its rumoured release date in the second half of 2014 - that is if the device turns out to be the LG G3.
As the Nexus 4 and Nexus 5 builder, LG is one of the strongest candidates to deliver the Nexus 6 final cut and most likely the South Korean device maker will pattern the vanilla Android phone after its 2014 flagship.
It was the case last year when most of the LG G2 specs and features were ported to the 4.9-inch Nexus 5. And chances are, the next Nexus will get the same treatment - a scenario that will give Android fans a new gizmo to be proud of.
The same device could confidently tussle with the iPhone 6 and the Galaxy S5, which according to analysts are the top headliners for 2014. Thanks to the supposed LG G3 features below, the Nexus 6 offers an even more exciting spectacle of hero smartphone showdown in the months to come.
2K display resolution
A new info from @evleaks suggests that LG will soon issue a handset, bearing the codename LG-D850, which the tipster said is the LG G3. In the same leak, @evleaks recalled that in 2013 D800 proved to be the LG G2 and D820 became the Nexus 5.
For 2014, LG has so far revealed the D830 that was commercially released as the LG G Pro 2. So it seems safe to assume that the string will make the D850 the G3 which could then morph into the Nexus 6, carrying of course a different model identifier.
As the supposed G3 will boast of a Q-HD display class or 2K screen resolution at 2560 x 1440, which @evleaks said was hinted by an LG User Agent Profile listing, it is logical to expect then that the upcoming Nexus phone is a 2K-toting device, possibly besting the Galaxy S5 and the iPhone 6.
64-bit quad-core Snapdragon chip
Courtesy too of the LG G3, the Nexus 6 is seen to upgrade from Snapdragon 800 to a 64-bit and quad-core sibling, which could be the Snapdragon 8o5 or 810. Major benefits that this jump will afford are better speed and accuracy plus the accommodation of higher RAM provisions.
From 2GB in the Nexus 5, random access memory module in the Nexus 6 could go as high as 4GB or even more, thanks to the 64-bit processing chips.
Water and dust proof
CNET has reported that LG would gun to topple the GS5 by deploying the G3 with full IP67 certification, which means the device can be dunked in one metre water for 30 minutes and survive unscathed. The G3 is able to repel the onset of dust.
It goes without saying that if Google would again tap LG for the 2014 Nexus phone, the same robust features will be extended to the upcoming device, to the delight of would-be Nexus 6 users.
Killer cam at 16MP
It is also believed that the LG G3 will adhere to the 2014 smartphone standard for its camera features, which should give the gadget's main shooter a 16MP lens, at least, as the GS5 boasts of the same.
When replicated in the Nexus 6, the clip and image recorder should be complimented by the loads of camera applications and capabilities embedded with the latest Android build that will come out of the box with the smartphone. The best is it would be Android 4.5 or Lollipop.
The Nexus 6 release date is pegged in early July 2014 or in the immediate day following Google's I/O Developers Conference in June 24 and 25.
