Apple Inc suppliers will begin mass producing displays as early as May 2014 for the next iPhone, expected to be launched this autumn, with a 4.7-inch screen likely to be produced first while a 5.5-inch version could be delayed, supply chain sources said. Japan Display Inc, Sharp Corp and South Korea's LG Display Co Ltd have all been tapped to make the screens, said the sources, who asked not to be identified. Reuters

Apple's MacBook Pro line has gained a loyal following with no signs of stopping. Despite declining PC sales, Apple manages to keep its laptop line alive. To brush up some MacBook Pro basics, here are several ways to ensure it stays fast and high performing.

Some of these are basic information but for new Mac users, they may count as fresh and helpful information.

Number of Items in Login

When a MacBook Pro takes longer to boot then the issue may be due to the number of log in items. Usually, the number increases automatically as users install new programs. This slows down the boot up process. Try to limit the number of log in items. To do this, go to System Preferences > Users & Groups > Login Item. Remove unnecessary items under the startup process.

Go for Programs with Low Memory Usage

One of the main reasons computers slow down is used up storage space. According to The Next Digit, it may be best to look for alternative applications that have lower memory requirement and substitute those taking up too much space. It is best to look at the basic functions of each program to find the viable option.

Offending Apps

This may also be related to apps using as much memory. CNET recommends checking if the laptop slows down at times when there are too many tasks to do. To see which programs use up most of the system's resources, check Activity Monitor. The numbers tend to fluctuate constantly but they provide memory and CPU resources for each program. In CNET's report, Firefox uses up CPU resources up to three times more than other programs. This suggests Chrome as a better alternative. This may happen to other programs allowing users to see which programs need to go and be replaced for better performance.

Add RAM

Speeding up a laptop can be as simple as adding RAM. Changing the RAM configurations of a MacBook is easy. However, it may be a bit more challenging when upgrading older versions. Brand should not be an issue but users should make sure it is compatible with the device.
