Android fans cannot wait for the Samsung Galaxy S5 and its new upgrades coming in 2014. Samsung decided to scrap the plastic body and use metallic materials to create the upcoming flagship smartphone. Know the five expected release dates for the Samsung Galaxy S5 in 2014!

Consumer Electronics Show 2014

In 2013, the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) event was held from Jan 8 to 11 at the Las Vegas Convention Center and over 3,000 exhibitors showcased a wide range of innovative products for the year. Products showcased include audio, automotive, embedded technology, lifestyle electronics and wireless devices.

Samsung officially announced three innovative products at the event - the multi-view TVs, flexible OLED display called Youm and current flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S4. Although claimed as innovative, the Galaxy S4 did not capture all audiences unlike with the Galaxy S3, and it is expected to get major upgrades on the upcoming Galaxy S5.

The CES 2014 would be the earliest time for Samsung to announce its new flagship phone. However, as the company cannot confirm the creation of 64-bit processor for the device at the shortest possible time, it would be lucky if Samsung managed to announce it as early as January 2014.

Mobile World Congress 2014

Samsung attended the 2013 Mobile World Congress (MWC) event in Barcelona, Spain, and featured the Galaxy S4. Other announcements were Android Jelly Bean OS, Ubuntu Touch, Firefox OS, Tizen OS, Sapphire glass for smartphones and new Nokia Lumias.

The MWC 2014 may be an alternative launching date for the Galaxy S5 if Samsung decides not to launch it in January. The event for next year will have four days showcasing the most innovative in technology from Feb 24 to 27.

Samsung Galaxy March Event

Samsung officially launched the Galaxy S4 in March 2013 which is more than a year after the Galaxy S3 - late April 2012 - and could also be the probable date for the Galaxy S5. The Korean company is currently working with three essential changes on the Galaxy S5, namely the 64-bit CPU, ultra-slim 3GB RAM chip and aluminium body with carbon-fibre optics, which will require time.

Rumours suggest that the Samsung Galaxy S5 release may be between March and April 2014 which is traditional to the Galaxy S line. Other reports consider May 2014 as the latest schedule for the device.

Internationale Funkausstellung Berlin

The Internationale Funkausstellung Berlin (IFA) or International Radio Exhibition Berlin 2013 is where the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 was announced and might a chosen date for the Galaxy S5 as well. However, the 2014 event is scheduled at the third quarter of the year which a little far off for the Galaxy S5 and probably set for the Galaxy Note 4.

If Samsung chooses the IFA 2014, it may look like the company suffered intense delay on technological innovation for the Galaxy S5, and it could be an intended surprise after Apple announced the upcoming iPhone 6 in June or July next year.

After Apple's Event

There is a rare chance that Samsung may wait for Apple's event before it announces the Galaxy S5. Rumours expect that Apple will have a new OS version, larger iPhone variants and more upgrades for the iPhone 6.

Samsung could use the longest possible time to put more strength on the Galaxy S5 such as flexible display screen or one protected by multi-proofing against water, dust and shock if the company decides to patiently wait for iPhone 6.

Samsung's greatest challenge is the ultimate innovation people seek on the Galaxy S line which includes premium design, powerful hardware, ultra-speed performance and convenient features for daily use.
