The likelihood of a large-screen iPhone 6 on release date this 2014 is nearly confirmed, thanks to known Apple insider Ming-chi Kuo of KGI Securities.

Late last week, Kuo shared the information he gathered from Apple's supply chain players in Asia and the details led him to conclude that the tech giant is rolling out two iPhones in the same manner that it did in 2014.

There will be a 4.7-inch iPhone 6, which the KGI analyst said will represent a huge upgrade from the iPhone 5S. The most exciting about this device is could become readily available in the third quarter of 2014. In theory, Apple fans can get hold of the new iOS toy starting in July.

But there is build number two - the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 - that Kuo said will get unpack last quarter of the year. Between now and the launch time of the first iPhone phablet could be a long wait but the specs and features attached by Kuo with the device seems to suggest that a bit more of patience will pay off.

Here are the five reasons why:

Upsized but pretty and comfy to use

With a 5.5-inch screen profile, the iPhone 6 phablet is no doubt a huge leap from the 4-inch iPhone 5S, nearly matching the latest Galaxy Note 4 model. While Kuo made it clear that navigating through the device will require both hands most of the time, he also hinted that it will be a sight to behold and a delight to use.

Far from being awkward, the final build is virtually all-screen on front, nearly no-bezels surrounding the big viewer, and thinner than the iPhone 5S, making for a smartphone that users would love to move around with and easy to handle.

High-end features

In his note last week, Kuo also suggested that the Apple phablet will be stuffed with superlative features, foremost of which is a roomy built-in storage of 64GB. Then the device is also slated to ditch Corning Gorilla Glass that has been the mainstay screen cover in previous iPhone builds.

In its place, Apple will use ding and scratch-resistant sapphire that Kuo noted will not be found on the 4.7-inch iPhone 6.

Massive battery upgrade

Those planning to buy the hulking iPhone 6 can expect more power juice of up to 70 per cent, which according to Kuo translates to extended hours of use in a single charge. The fresh norm seems to be - the bigger the iPhone is that consumers will scoop up, the more operating moments they will enjoy.

Faster and better A8 processing chip

In the iPhone 5S, the 64-bit A7 chip was defined as forward-looking. In the iPhone 6, that future is NOW, all thanks to the much-improved 20nm A8 CPU, which according to Apple is fully optimised with the wide-reaching iOS ecosystem.

That would mean that in time for the next iPhone debut, all smartphone applications in the App Store would have been fully-recoded for the 64-bit mobile computing system.

1080p iPhone 6 screen

As the iPhone 6 will boast of a 5.5-inch screen, the display resolution will beam in 1920 x 1080 screen pixels or up to density of 401 pixels per inch (ppi). This top-notch display panel, Kuo said, will mirror the aspect ratio that Apple fans have enjoyed using the iPhone 5S.

That means, no redesign is required for existing iPhone applications.

Release date of the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 is pegged by Kuo to happen between October and December 2014 yet a glimpse could be in the offing by September of the same year.
