Tech giant Apple is set to release the iPhone 6 and iPhone 5S in June.

According to Japanese magazine Mac Fan, the new iPhone 5S will be unveiled on June 20 and go on sale by July. It also said the rumoured low-cost version, targeted at India and China, would be launched in August. Mac Fan did not share where it got its news from. However, the new iPhone 5S will not be imbued with Apple's new mobile operating system, iOS7, it would seem.

Apple is expected to include an improved camera in the iPhone 6 and/or iPhone 5S which is rumoured to be capable of taking "Super HD" pictures. In order to take snaps at that resolution it'll need to have at least a 13 mega-pixel camera.

The lack of NFC support on the iPhone 5 was one of the biggest criticisms aimed at Apple's smartphone. Rumours suggest that the iPhone 5S could include support for the contact-less technology which can be used to pay for items in retail stores. Other features rumoured to be included in the handset is the A7 quad core chip processor, Retina or IGZO screen display among others.

However, the company remained tight-lipped on the details of the upcoming smartphones.

Below are the reasons why Apple will release the two rumoured smartphones in June.

1. To save Apple's earnings - It was reported last month that Apple's earnings went down, which is unusual for the tech giant. The next iPhone is expected to save Apple from shame and put it up on the pedestal again.

2. To keep up with rivals - Rival company Samsung already unveiled one of its flagship phone this year and is already eating up the market. Apple will lose some of its consumers if it will release its next smartphones a little too late because the latest smartphone from Samsung boasts great specs and features.

3. To show off Steve Job's influence on design - There are rumours that the next iPhone will bear a design and probably some specs and features influenced by the late Steve Jobs.

4. To appease investors - Due to the slip on the earnings of the company, investors may be pressuring apple to release a new device in the next months.

5. To change the product cycle of iPhone - Apple announced before that it will implement a new product cycle of its products. This is already seen with the company's tablet iPad.
