Google made sure to add new improvements to the Nexus 4 with next-generation Nexus 5, and these promises seem to begin in 2013. Certain add-ons such as all-new OS version, upgraded camera and 4G LTE technology are going to be featured by the Nexus 5. Know the six promises of Google for future Nexus smartphones.

Operating System

There is no doubt that Android 4.4 KitKat will run Nexus 5, and it brings new features to the smartphone. Google's new resolution for the defragmented ecosystem issue of Android is expected to arrive on the Android 4.4 version including the screen resizing and standardised hardware requirements. Buyers can expect the following from the new Android OS:

- Firmware availability for older devices

- New Miracast updates

- Reduced fragmentation issue via screen resizing

- New Palette themes

- New notification widgets

In addition, Android 4.4 KitKat will support more processors, wider network coverage and compatibility, and better responsiveness on the UI.

4G/LTE Network

The Nexus 5 is going to be 4G/LTE enabled which will allow faster and better data transfer. It also means that the smartphone is equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, capable of enabling 4G technology.

The Nexus 4 did not support 4G and only featured the HSPA+ connectivity which is considered as its greatest flaw compared to other Android phones. However, the Nexus 4 is sold with a cheaper price tag in the market which also indicates same price range of the Nexus 5.

More Network Carriers

In the United States, the Nexus 4 isn't available in Verizon which holds the number 1 rank in 4G/LTE connection. This led to considerable loss of market for Google that should have been reached by Nexus 4.

The Nexus 7 2013 features LTE, and it is available in Verizon and other network carriers such as AT&T and T-Mobile. It is expected that the Nexus 5 will also be available to all U.S. carriers as well as to a wider variety of network providers in Europe and Asia.

Upgraded Hardware

The Nexus 4 hardware is composed of a high-end processor chip, HD display and 8 MP camera with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean automatic push update. Now Google made the Nexus 5 even powerful, which makes it incomparable to its predecessor.

Certain upgrades in the hardware such as next-generation Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 5 inches of screen display with HD resolution, narrower screen bezel, bigger RAM, 4G technology and 13 MP camera are included to the Nexus 5.

Future OS Support

As usual, the Nexus 5 will get exclusive updates from two or three more versions of the Android OS. Google already designed Android 4.4 for older devices which points for better OS versions in 2014 and 2015.

Owners of the Nexus 5 don't need to purchase new Android phones sooner, since new versions of Android are always heading their way - an exclusive part of being a Nexus user. Some rumours are already revolving on the next version after KitKat, the Android 5.0 Lemon Meringue Pie and Android 6.0 Milkshake, but for now, no features are confirmed.

Cheap Price of Nexus 5

Google isn't going to put a high price tag on the Nexus 5, so more Android fans can purchase it. Currently, the Nexus 4 is being sold on the Google Play Store for less $300 without any contract. The same pricing is expected with the Nexus 5.

Other expectations include wider availability of the smartphone to many territories and Google's use of Play Store again to sell the device. The following are some points on how the Nexus 5 will be priced:

- Nexus 4 same price bracket

- iPhone 5C base price, as it is claimed cheap

- Overpricing of branded phones such as HTC One and Samsung Galaxy S4

Google's newest Nexus 5 is expected to be launched with Android 4.4 KitKat in October 2013 to commemorate Android's fifth anniversary.
