6 Killer Features Of Apple iPhone 6 Worth Waiting For Sept 19 Release Date
Apple has taken the "go big or go home" trend seriously and unveiled two bigger iPhone 6 models on Sept. 9 scheduled in Flint Center, Cupertino. The 4.7-inch iPhone 6 and the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus handsets have set the bar high for the future devices to come. Furthermore, the company also launched Apple Watch (not iWatch) in the wearable gadgets segment. The one-hour special Apple event is a huge success thanks to the incredible devices, impressive presentation and the encouraging crowd. However, it is time to ferret out the best features of the Apple iPhone 6 that can give other competitors a run for their money.
Here is a list of collated features from TOI and Laptop Mag:
Apple Pay
Apple Pay is the foundation of iPhone 6's mobile payment service. Apple Pay employs the hardware, software and other services of the iPhone to aid mobile payment program. This includes NFC, Touch ID fingerprint scanner, Secure Element and Apple Passbook. In addition to adding the credit card details via iTunes account, users can add the details by taking a picture of the credit card, says Laptop Mag.
It is worth noting that, when a credit card detail is added to Passbook/Apple Pay, the card information will not be stored on the Apple device, neither on the servers, says Apple. Notably, users of American Express, MasterCard and Visa can take advantage of this service upon release.
In addition, the iPhone 6 owners will be able to use Apple Pay service in 220,000+ merchant stores/services in the U.S. Some of the merchants include Walgreens, Bloomingdales, Duane Reade, Subway, Macy's, Whole Foods and McDonalds, among others. Users can also take advantage of the service online, by ordering from Target and Panera at this point.
Whopping 128 GB In-Built Storage
This specification has been rumoured for quite some time now. However, Apple has confirmed the internal storage options of the iPhone 6 models as 16 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB. This clearly makes up for the lack of microSD card slot in Apple devices.
Faster Wi-Fi Connection And Wireless Calling
Both 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch iPhone 6 variants support the much-faster Wi-Fi 802.11ac. Going by Apple's announcement, the handsets will let the users surf up to 3x faster speed under Wi-Fi connectivity. Furthermore, the company has introduced wireless calling facility in its iPhone 6.
Improved Battery Unit
Notably, Apple devices have constantly been under attack for modest to poor battery performance. However, the company has taken the feedback seriously and in turn the iPhone 6 models come with enhanced battery unit. According to Apple, the iPhone 6 can provide up to 14 hours of 3G talk time and 250 hours of 3G stand-by time, whereas the iPhone 6 Plus can stretch up to 24 hours of 3G talk time and 384 hours of 3G stand-by time.
3D App/Game Engine
Every Apple event has some surprising element attached to it. And this time around, the company introduced the Metal API targeting the gaming application developers. This is done to improve the graphical appeal of the apps because of the ever-growing gaming app crazy crowd. However, one cannot say if Steve Jobs would be happy with this decision.
Retina HD Display With Ion Strengthened Glass
Last but not least, both the iPhone 6 models come with Retina HD display. This is an ultra-thin IPS LCD display that bundles 1,334 x 750 pixels resolution and 326 ppi pixel density for the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 variant. In addition, this display can provide wider viewing angles. The 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus, on the other hand, features a Full HD 1,920 x 1,080 pixels resolution. Apparently, ion strengthened glass is the reason behind the killer display and hence the sapphire crystal is not used. Apart from the aforementioned details, a bettered polarizer, IPS liquid crystal display and relatively lighter backlight compliments the iPhone 6 display.
It is worth noting that, when Android counterparts are chasing the Quad HD display with pixel density going as high as 400 to 500+, Apple's display might sound inferior. However, in order to render the Quad HD images on the screen the CPU utilization will also be more. Therefore, it is quite convenient to say that Apple iPhone 6's display makes a statement, says TOI.
