Moto X phone is now receiving an official Android 4.4 KitKat upgrade from Motorola ahead of LG Nexus 4 smartphone. There are six major changes provided by the new operating system version from apps to the user interface.

Official Android 4.4 KitKat for Moto X phone is now rolling out to owners in the United States which begins on Verizon Wireless. It features the pure Vanilla UI of Android 4.4 KitKat that complements with the existing Google services installed on the smartphone plus several major improvements to Motorola apps.

Our software strategy is to build on a pure Android foundation and complement existing Google services, not compete with them. Official Android 4.4 KitKat Changes on Moto X

Newest update by Motorola on Moto x with Android 4.4 KitKat features six major changes that affects the entire smartphone from applications to its user interface which expected to make the device more powerful and intuitive than before.

1. Upgraded Phone Dialler
You can now search contacts directly from the dial-pad with easy to see results for frequently used contacts.

2. More Gallery Goodies
Android 4.4 KitKat brought some cool effects on the Gallery apps such as Posterize, Highlights and Edges. In addition, the new firmware also uses the "Draw Feature" to annotate photos using your own fingers.

3. Hangouts SMS/MMS Integration
Hangouts app becomes the messaging hub for SMS/MMS, video call and other chats. It also supports animated images called GIFs, location sharing and mood updates.

4. Colour Emoji
More emojis are added on the Android 4.4 KitKat virtual keyboard with colourful characters for messaging and other communications.

5. Focus and Expose
Camera app also received an upgrade which now allows control on both focus and exposure when capturing images. Drag your finger to set the right exposure level and focus point.

6. More Improvements
Some changes included to the update are restyled status bar, new navigation bars, new full screen mode called Immersive mode and enhancements to the Motorola features such as Touchless Control.

In order to download or check the latest Android 4.4 firmware from Motorola, go to "Settings > About phone > System updates" on your Moto X or download the Motorola Device Manager to your computer and connect your smartphone then check for updates online.
