Samsung Galaxy S5 is most talked about upcoming smartphone for 2014, expected to match Apple's iPhone 5S and the rumoured Sony Xperia Z2 Avatar. So what killer features will Samsung include on their next flagship smartphone?

Samsung Galaxy S5 in 2014 versus iPhone 5S and Xperia Z1 Avatar

iPhone 5S is equipped with the world's fastest processor and Galaxy S4 didn't match to its processing power even it has eight-cores. Sony continues to grow with their Xperia smartphones and rumours tell that the company will launch a successor of Z1 Honami in 2014 called Z2 Avatar - inspired by the Galaxy Note 3. If Samsung did it with the Galaxy Note 3, why not on the Galaxy S5!

Processing Power

Samsung is planning to create their own 64-bit processor for future Galaxy smartphones and tablets. Galaxy S5 would probably be the first to feature it and surely going to be fast and smooth. In addition, Galaxy S5 may be equipped with 3GB of RAM to cover all the needs for multi-tasking applications and functions.

Components and Material

Polycarbonate will likely not be a part of the Galaxy S5 anymore and instead it will go with aluminium-magnesium components. Samsung plans to reinvent their Galaxy line and make it totally premium just like with HTC and Sony smartphones. Moreover, the company is capable of adding proofing such as water-resistance and dust resistance which is featured by the Galaxy S4 Active and Galaxy X Cover 2.

Operating System and Applications

Android 4.4 KitKat's optimisation and higher CPU support can help Samsung to impart more exclusive applications to the Galaxy S5. New version of TouchWiz, more intelligent features from the "Samsung Smart" apps, high-tech and intuitive hardware recognition can redefine the next Galaxy smartphone.

Killer Camera

Samsung added an optical image stabilisation feature on the Galaxy Note 3 with zero shutter lag which we can see on the upcoming Galaxy S5. Aside from that, expect higher megapixel, back-side illumination, low-light sensitivity, 4K video resolution, slow motion recording, better audio recording and additional camera features, filters and effects on the Galaxy S5.

Super Thin Design

Having a super thin design is very challenging especially if the device sports tons of features and top-notch hardware but fans shouldn't be worried because Samsung can do it to the Galaxy S5. With their current research on new material and flexible display, we may never expect that the thinnest, fastest and strongest smartphone for 2014 is the Galaxy S5.

Better Battery Life

Galaxy S5 can have longer battery life in two ways - higher battery capacity or improved Power Saving tool. A 3500 mAh battery pack, Super AMOLED display and more intelligent Power Saving app can greatly improve Galaxy S5's battery life throughout the day.

With all of these features and hardware innovation, Galaxy S5 is sure to kickass in 2014; however, Samsung may have difficulty on its creation as time is short if they are planning to launch it at the CES 2014 event.
