87th Academy Awards: Singer Idina Menzel Addressed John Travolta As 'Glom Gazingo' As He Pats Her Cheeks Onstage [VIDEO]
When “Frozen” singer Idina Menzel called a person named “Glom Gazingo” to announce an award at the 87th Annual Academy Awards on Sunday night, nobody expected actor John Travolta to show up. The “Let It Go” singer took her “revenge” from Travolta by getting his name wrong in the same way as Travolta misspelt her name at the 2014's Academy Awards. But the “Grease” actor also touched Idina's face and hugged her on stage.
According to Daily Mail, the 43-year-old singer told the audience that she would like to introduce her “very dear friend Glom Gazingo” when Travolta walked towards the stage. The 61-year-old actor first hugged Idina and then patted her on the cheek. Idina and Travolta then gave away the Best Original Song award to John Legend and Common for their song “Glory” in “Selma.” The duo also moved the audience to tears when they gave a stunning performance on their song “Glory.”
After Idina and Travolta went offstage, Academy Awards host Neil Patrick Harris mocked Travolta's behaviour with Idina as he presented his Oscars predictions. “Travolta will be back next year to apologise to Idina for all the face-touching,” Harris said, according to Daily Mail. MTV news also writes that Travolta's behaviour with Idina was “strange.” “It got kind of strange, though, when Travolta started stroking Menzel’s face. And he didn’t stop,” Emilee Lindner from MTV writes.
In 2014, Travolta mispronounced Idina's name as Adele Dazeem when she came to accept her award for the Best Original Song at the 86th Academy Awards. Many websites said that Idina took her “revenge” when she misspelt Travolta's name in 2015. However, Travolta was also in news for some other reason. He started the Oscar ceremony by giving an “awkward” kiss to actress Scarlett Johansson at the red carpet. Scarlett also gave a “side-eye” to the actor as he touched her belly and kissed her. The actress looked uncomfortable and kept her arms down and did not reciprocate to Travolta's kiss. Read more here.
The 87th Annual Academy Awards were held at Hollywood's Dolby Theatre. The Best Picture award was bagged by “Birdman” while Julianne Moore took home the award for Best Actress for her role in “Still Alice.” Eddie Redmayne won the Best Actor Award for his role in “Theory of Everything.”
