Tech company Acer has unveiled its new storage service called AcerCloud, which is quite similar to Apple's iCloud.

iCloud was launched by Apple, last October to provide a bigger storage service and connects all of the personal devices of Apple users. The AcerCloud uses Always Connect technology that allows users to share and retrieve multimedia and data files anytime and anywhere.

Acer announced that the AcerCloud will be bundled with all Acer computers in the U.S., UK, Asia and China starting the second quarter of 2012. However, is this a copycat of Apple's newest service? There is an undeniable resemblance between the services.

Here are some of the specific features of the new service:

Connects all Acer devices - AcerCloud makes it easier to transfer files from one device to another. For example, you can easily take a photo from your smartphone and store it and view them on your PC at home or in the office without the need to manually transfer the files. Acer's Always Connect technology can wake up the device through Wi-Fi® so media can be retrieved via the mobile device. AcerCloud, meanwhile, intelligently uses local and cloud storage together so all data is always available.

PicStream -This may sound like Apple's PhotoStream. You can simply take photos on your smartphone and back it up on the main PC. Sharing photos is made possible through clear.fi in the Cloud with other devices. The photos are backed up permanently on the PC and are made temporarily available for 30 days in the personal iCloud and other smart devices.

AcerCloud Docs- This feature will highly benefit professionals who work on various pertinent documents needed for their work. They can save the documents on their PC, have them temporarily available on their personal AcerCloud, and stream it through other devices. If a sudden meeting or presentation comes up, one need not worry as he can gain access to all the files that are temporarily available for 30 days.

Clear.fi Media - With this Acer application, users can access all their multimedia at any time. One can use the clear.fi media to gain access to one's personal cloud, live streaming, or download the content to watch it offline.

Acer's president Jim Wong said, "AcerCloud not only provides the simplicity and efficiency when accessing and sharing data, but it's also free with a new Acer PC and gives our users peace of mind, knowing that their data is safely transferred in a personal cloud space."

This surely reminds us of Apple's iCloud. Will this start another lawsuit for copyright infringement or did Apple just pave the way for a new storing and sharing method? Currently, the new AcerCloud will support Android devices starting on the second quarter of 2012. There is a plan that Windows-based devices will be supported as well in the near future.
