British singer Adele denies throat cancer rumors following the cancellation of her remaining concert dates of the year. The singer is to undergo surgery and is expected to recuperate shortly after the procedure to repair her vocal cords.

"We would like to reiterate that Adele is to undergo surgery for a hemorrhaged vocal chord. All reports regarding any other condition are 100 percent false," a spokesperson said in a statement last Monday.

Rumors about the singer having throat cancer surfaced after she cancelled her performances scheduled in the United States and United Kingdom. Fans and those concerned for the singer flooded Twitter with encouraging messages as #prayforadele became a trending topic.

Other artists who have gone through the same medical procedure are Elton John, Stephen Tyler, and Graham Nash. All of them went through the operation and had successful results.

"I have absolutely no choice but to recuperate properly and fully, or I risk damaging my voice forever," the phenomenal singer wrote on her blog. She hopes to resume her tours next year. The "Rolling In The Deep" singer is nominated for various categories including "Artist of the Year" in the prestigious American Music Awards which will be held on Nov. 20.
