After Asus Transformer Book Trio, Samsung Releases ATIV Book 7 Series, Testing Out Ultrabook Waters
Samsung is gearing up to be the leading player not just in the smartphones market but also for laptops. Recently, the company released the ATIV series. The new line of computers will feature a Window OS allowing the company to reach more customers.
ATIV series basically covers all of the company's Window products. These include smartphones, laptops and tablets. The first two ATIV computers for testing are under the 7 series. The models were previously referred to as Chronos. Currently, these two models go as ATIV Book 7 NP730U3E-K01NL and ATIV Book 7 NP740U3E-X01NL.
Samsung's ATIV products are both ultrabooks. They are 13.3 inches and are considered part of the Samsung Premium Ultrabooks line. In the UK, the products go by 13.3" Series 7 Touchscreen Notebook 128GB SSD NP740U3E. This edition lacks the SideSync feature but similar for everything else. Unless the series has an ATIV to it, the Sync Feature is automatically not available.
Both laptops come in a silver finish - the same for their keyboards. Prices vary but they both run on Intel Core i5-3337U CPU including 128 GB Plextor M6M SSD. Ativ Book 7 NP740U3E-K01NL is more expensive because of its touch screen features. It also features an AMD Radeon HD 8750M GPU. The extra touch screen features meant more weight for the product. There is additional 1.61 kg for this feature while other models can weigh an added 1.45 if they opt for the touch screen version.
The touch screen appears glossy. The cheaper version has a matte display instead. One of the best things about this series is their keyboards. They have a relatively large touchpad making it easier to work with.
To make the experience more unique, Samsung also threw in the SideSynch. This allows users to sync and use their Samsung phones easier with their laptop. Transfer of files is convenient along with other features like hands free control.
