Mike Colter recently revealed some details about his role in Netflix’s “A.K.A Jessica Jones,” where he will be playing as Luke Cage. During an interview, the actor compared his character to other Marvel characters, specifically Thor and Iron Man and says Luke Cage is more real compared to the members of the Avengers.

Colter tells The List while promoting the upcoming home video release of the Xbox One series “Halo” Nightfall,” that Luke Cage is unlike Thor and Iron Man since his character is more concrete. “It’s all part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe but Luke Cage is a darker, grittier, more tangible character than Iron Man or Thor,” he says.

Mike Colter, who is also the voice actor behind Jameson Locke in “Halo 5: Guardians,” admits he finds his Luke Cage character in “A.K.A Jessica Jones” very interesting. Colter adds Cage possesses super strength and unbreakable skin. “He’s a neighborhood hero, very much linked to New York and Jessica Jones,” he adds.

However, Luke Cage is reportedly also known for keeping his operations in secret. Colter says his character in “A.K.A Jessica Jones” likes to keep things close to his chest and that he likes to “operate on the hush-hush.” Luke Cage may have super strength all these other abilities but he reportedly doesn’t know how and when to use them. All in all, Mike Colter tells The List that Luke Cage is a “very nuanced character.”

Screenrant describes Luke Cage as a more down-to-earth superhero, someone whom fans and viewers could supposedly respond to kindly. Having a more relatable hero in another of Marvel’s Cinematic Universe is said to be an effective substitute for the likes of Iron Man and Thor, especially since he will be paired with the Kingpin in “A.K.A Jessica Jones.”

Landing the role of Luke Cage in “A.K.A Jessica Jones” may be credited to his involvement in the Ridley Scott-directed videogame movie “Halo: Nightfall.” However, Mike Colter says during the interview that it’s always been his wish to star in another action movie and says Luke Cage will mostly be taking up most of his time now.
