Around 400 stray dogs, mainly from Bucharest, are hosted now at Dogtown, waiting for adoption. According to its townhall, 65,000 stray dogs stay in Bucharest and the National Institute for Infectious Diseases reported that 16,000 people were bitten by dogs in 2012, an increase of 3,231 more cases than in 2011. It was a bad week for dogs the past few days as three separate incidents in different states reported pooches being sexually abused by their owners or caretakers. The suspects are two men in Alabama and Arkansas and a woman in Florida.

Alabama Police filed animal cruelty charges against 39-year-old Jonathan Edward Medley of Geneva for allegedly having sex with Bruno, the two-year-old Shih Tzu pet of his wife. Medley was jealous of what he perceives as too much attention given by his wife to the pooch which led him to commit the bestial act, cops said.

Ironically, the wife thought it was with another woman whom Medley was involved with, so she spied on him and to her disgust, discovered the perverse act by placing a secret recording device. Through the secret recording, the wife found that her husband was molesting Buster.

The dog sustained injuries from the molestation that police though the pet might have to be culled. However, a veterinarian said that Buster is recovering. Meanwhile, Medley – who was arrested on Friday – is out on a $535 bail and faces a misdemeanor charge which is what the state law prescribes for bestiality, reports the New York Daily Post.

In Bradenton, Florida, it is a woman who is facing sexual battery investigation for having sex with a dog. Eighteen-year-old Ashley Miller took explicit photos of herself while a dog was performing oral sex on her. She admitted to detectives that her pet had done it to her 30 to 40 times.

Like Medley, Miller was also arrested on Friday. Since she is charged with two counts of misdemeanor sexual activities involving animals, Miller was released after she posted a higher bond of $1,000. But the Bradenton police said that the dog had no signs of injury. However, it was taken to an animal doctor for examination.

In Arkansas, 32-year-old Jonathan Ford was booked by Pope County officials on bestiality charges. Ford run the I Love Lucy Pet Rescue in rural Arkansas where he accepted abandoned and abused pets. But it seems he was also sexually abusing the rescued pets, reports the New York Daily Post.

Ford was arrested on Wednesday after police was alerted by Kimberly Bodle, an animal right advocate who received photos showing Ford engaged in sex with dogs in his rescue business. The photos showed that it was not only Ford who penetrated the dogs, but he also allowed himself to be penetrated by the animals. Bodle shared the photo with county officials who arrested Ford and held him at the county jail.
