Alienware X51 Console + PC: Specs and Features
Alienware recently announced the release of its new gaming device, dubbed Alienware X51. This is the company's attempt to introduce a simple gaming PC in the market.
Alienware X51 has a console-based design. This new offering from Alienware is small in size despite being slightly larger if compared to PS3. It has a measurement of 9.5cm wide and 34.3cm tall which makes it handy and it could stand either vertically or horizontally. Aside from that, this device could easily fit in under a TV alongside other powerful gaming devices. In terms of specifications, a basic Alienware X51 utilizes Intel Core i3 3.3 GHz processor with 4GB of RAM, Nvidia GeForce GT545 graphics card, and 1TB hard drive. It also has 2 USB 2.0 ports located at the front while the back part has 4 USB 2.0 ports and 2 USB 3.0 ports. This device also features an Ethernet jack, an HDMI, and 2 DVI-I video outputs. It also incorporates Alienware's signature feature, the brilliant LED lighting for this console.
This device is also available for a sophisticated set of specifications but users should also be prepared to spend more in order to get more than what the basic model offers. Users could choose from Core i5 or Core i7 processor, 8GB RAM, Blu-ray drive, SSD, and better graphics card. Users could also opt to choose from eight standard builds. Aside from that, this new device also gives users upgradeability and customization to their devices. For example, one screw has the ability to keep the X51 chassis' side wall secured. If the user opts to remove another pair of screws, it gives access to other parts as well. As for customization, there is the AlienAdrenaline app which enables custom profiles when a shortcut is created.
Arthur Lewis, VP of Alienware and Product Management for Consumer, Small and Medium Business described this gadget stating that "The Alienware X51 allows us to bring the exciting nature of high-definition, immersive gaming within reach of more gamers than ever before. With the X51, we've expanded our gaming desktop offering to cater to all gamers in addition to our core enthusiast and competitive gamers. Now everyone can enjoy the latest games on a sleek, powerful, compact and customizable system. The X51 desktop delivers an incredible feature set for its size and price."
Alienware is Dell's gaming brand since Dell acquired it six years ago. The Core i3 model is available in the U.S. for $699. In Australia, the price for a Core i5 model is set at AU$1,299.
