For all those who have preordered the PS4 as their holiday next-gen console of choice, there's an added feature in the device that you're getting: the Playroom.

Previously revealed at the E3, the Playroom is an augmented-reality feature and will now come preloaded into all the PS4 consoles, reports GameSpot.

Of course, the first issue here is that you can't make use of the Playroom because it requires the combination of the DualShock 4 and the PlayStation Eye to work-and if you haven't bought the PS camera yet, you may not be able to enjoy it.

What this implies is that the PS4 may be getting ready for its developers to create features and applications that would make use of the PS Eye, and hereby propel its importance in terms of being played in tandem with the PS4.

Whether or not this makes gamers avail of the PS Eye remains to be seen, but it is a good initiative on the part of Sony to make sure that it does not get left behind in any potential next-gen services that it can offer.

On the PlayStation Eye camera

With rumours of the PS4 having previously bundled the PlayStation Eye camera to be included with the PS4, Andrew House, SCE president and CEO, spoke to The Guardian in an interview that revealed the company's take on how the PS4 should be like as an experience for its gamers.

In the interview as reported by VG 24/7, it seems that the PlayStation Eye was really not meant to be automatically bundled with the console.

"There's consumer flexibility," he said in the interview quoted by VG 24/7. "We have a camera which will build some great consumer experiences, especially when it's used in conjunction with the DualShock 4, but we're not mandating that, or forcing that purchase on the consumer."

And while the company may be expanding its reach, a future-looking action that aims to put the PS4 into an integrated console that can deliver a variety of services to its consumers, it also aims, at least for the PS4, to go back to the original source and aim for the enjoyment of both the players and the developers.

As quoted by Gaming Bolt, "I see our approach on PS4 as really taking Sony Computer Entertainment back to our original roots. When we first launched with the PS1 and certainly the PS2, the goal was to give the consumer more choice, and lots of flexibility at a time when the delivery mechanism of games, on cartridges paced a lot of restrictions on the industry."

A new way to pay on the PSN

The next time you want to use your mobile phone to pay for the things that you get from the PlayStation Store, it's now possible with Sony's newest payment mode feature.

Eurogamer reports that this feature allows gamers to connect their mobile phones to the PSN by simply encoding your mobile number when prompted for it the next time you add funds to your wallet.

Afterwards, you'll be sent a text message every time you purchase to confirm it, with which you will have to reply with a "Y' in the SMS. This will automatically charge your purchase on your next mobile phone bill.

We are always looking at new ways to give our customers more choice in terms of content, accessibility, and payment methods, and are pleased to be able to offer the option of mobile operator billing, which are becoming more and more popular," said VP of Sony Network Entertainment Europe Gordon Thorton to Eurogamer.
