Amazon Fire Phone vs. OnePlus One: Price and Specs Comparison in Australia
No sooner than OnePlus One hits the market, E-commerce site Amazon also rolled out its first attempt with the smartphone through the Amazon Fire Phone. According to Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, the Amazon Fire Phone is optimized for one handed use. So how does Amazon Fire Phone fare against OnePlus One?
Price
In terms of price, OnePlus One is several hundreds cheaper compared with Amazon Fire Phone. According to OnePlus Web site, OnePlus One is sold for a low price of only $299 which translates to $317 in Australia. Meanwhile, Time Magazine mentioned that Amazon Fire Phone costs US$649 with a no contract plan at AT&T. This translates to $690 in Australia. Given this price, smart phone users can already buy two units of OnePlus One for the price of one Amazon Fire Phone.
Display
In terms of display, OnePlus One has bigger and better display than the Amazon Fire Phone. Based on the OnePlus Web site, the OnePlus One unit has 5.5-inch JDI display with a screen resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and image density of 401 pixels per inch (ppi). Meanwhile, according to Digital Trends, Amazon Fire Phone only has 4.7-inch high quality LCD display, with a screen resolution of 1280 x 720 with an image density of 315 pixels per inch (ppi).
Processors
Both smart phones have the same Qualcomm Snapdragon processors but with different specs. According to the above-cited sources, Amazon Fire Phone comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor clocked at 2.2GHz. On the other hand, OnePlus One has Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor quad-core processor clocked at 2.5GHz.
Operating Systems
When it comes to operating systems, the two smart phones run on totally different systems. Digital Trends mentioned that Amazon Fire Phone runs on Fire OS 3.5.0 while OnePlus Web site cited that OnePlus One runs on CyanogenMod 11S based on Android 4.4.
Memory
When it comes to memory, OnePlus One also has better specs than Amazon Fire Phone. OnePlus Web site mentioned that OnePlus One has 3 GB of RAM with an internal memory of 16 GB or 64 GB. Meanwhile, Digital Trends cited that Amazon Fire Phone has 2GB of RAM and an internal memory of either 32 GB or 64GB. It also has an added 5GB of extra free space via the Amazon Cloud Drive.
Camera
In terms of camera, both Amazon Fire Phone and OnePlus One have the same f/2.0 lens 13-megapixels for the primary camera. Amazon Fire Phone also features panorama, burst, and action shots plus there is unlimited photo storage. Meanwhile, OnePlus One has additional 5-megapixel distortion-free front-facing camera. The camera also comes with sensors that allow users to take sharp snapshots even with low light.
Other Features
According to Digital Trends, users who bought the Amazon Fire Phone includes 12-month membership to its prime service wherein users can choose from 33 million titles of music, movies, and TV shows. There is also a 3D effect specs included which allows users to view any image, map or Web content in a different way. Besides, the smart phone's camera also scans for books, DVDs, phone numbers, QR codes, CDs, games, and all other kinds of media. Then it searches for the product in the Amazon database and finds a version that users can buy from the online shopping Web site.
Meanwhile, OnePlus One has 4G LTE multimode modem which allows users to be connected wherever they go. It also has loud and clear voice recognition and noise cancellation with the three microphones. The smart phone also has the choice to use the onscreen or the capacitive keys at the bottom of the screen. It also comes with accelerometer, light sensor, proximity sensor, compass, gyroscope, miracast, and NFC.
