Mitch Winehouse has announced that they will be forming the "Amy Winehouse Foundation" to help troubled citizens fight off drug addiction and alcoholism.

During the cremation of the deceased singer, Amy's father Mitch announced to the public that he will be heading and forming the Amy Winehouse foundation, a group that supports those in need of help to ward off drug abuse and alcoholism. Aside from helping addicts and alcoholics, the foundation will also help fund benefits for children and horses - two passions of the late singer. Mitch was in New York with a family member when he heard the devastating news of his daughter's death.

"I was with my cousin Michael when I heard and straight away I said I wanted an Amy Winehouse Foundation, something to help the things she loved - children, horses, but also to help those struggling with substance abuse" says the singer's father in a report by the Huffington Post. Mitch also explained that the priority of the Amy Winehouse Foundation is to provide help for those who cannot afford it or to those who need to wait just for professional help. "In this country, if you cannot afford a private rehabilitation clinic, there is a two-year waiting list for help. With the help of Keith Vaz MP, we are trying to change that" adds Mitch in the same report by the Huffington Post.

Amy Winehouse was found dead in her Camden, North London apartment on July 23 at around 3:45 AM. The cause of the death is yet unknown, and there were no narcotics found in the singer's home. Amy became an instant legend in the music industry with her 2006 hit record "Back to Black" which won her 5 Grammy awards in 2008, including Record of the Year for her single "Rehab".
