Amy Winehouse "Wanted" to be a Part of the 27 Club
According to several reports, the death of the singer at the age of 27 might not be a coincidence, but a self-inflicted form of design.
A co-founder of a popular treatment center, Passages Malibu, said to a report that Amy Winehouse secretly wanted to be a part of the pantheon of musicians in the 27 Club. "Amy was on a dark path and she may have glamorized the idea of being part of that group", says Pax Prentiss to a report by TheWrap, the treatment center co-founder. 27 Club is a group incidentally formed to honor musicians who died at the age of 27. Other members include Kurt Cobain, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Brian Jones and Jim Morrison.
"I believe she was dealing with deep psychological pain. To get her sober and keep her sober rather than treat her for alcoholism, you have to go to the root cause. The drinking and the drugs are a symptom of deeper problems" adds Prentiss in the same TheWrap report. Prentiss added that his experience treating artists suggests that musicians tend to be sensitive and frail, and will most likely turn to drugs to minimize the pressure put upon them.
"I think Amy had an image that she was a tough rock 'n' roll girl, but she was delicate, sensitive and she needed help" continues Prentiss in the report. Winehouse was found dead at 3:45 PM in her home in Camden, North London due to unknown sources. There were no drugs found in her home.
