Android 4.1 Jelly Bean Hits Droid RAZR, Droid RAZR MAXX for All Users (Video Guide)
The update push for Motorola Droid RAZR and Droid RAZR MAXX has begun, and the phases this month roll for all users of both Motorola devices. Those who missed the Over-the-Air and manual installation can now snag the update.
The update rolled out earlier than the end of March 2013 deadline and owners from Android 4.0 ICS Motorola RAZR and RAZR MAXX can proceed with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. Most of the updates are released via Over-the-Air and will deliver all new Android experience for users.
Here are the three ways to obtain the update of 4.1 Jelly Bean for Motorola Droid RAZR MAXX. It is recommended to perform an OTA update. Manually updating your device has risks, if you do not how, let the network carrier do it for you.
Over-the-Air Update
This is the easiest and safest way to update your phone. Make a backup of your data files, contacts, and SMS just in case something happens during the update.
1. Go to "Settings"
2. Scroll down and select "About Phone"
3. Select "System Updates"
4. And start the software update
5. Once finished, you can check the version by going back to "About Phone" and view the "Android version"
From Ice Cream Sandwich to Jelly Bean via Stock Recovery
For devices with pure Ice Cream Sandwich version updating to Jelly Bean.
1. Turn off the device.
2. Press and hold Volume up + down + Power key.
3. Select "Recovery Mode".
4. Once you have seen the Android logo, hit both Volume up and down.
5. Select "Apply update from external storage".
6. Then select the update file you have downloaded from the SD card.
7. Confirm to install and wait till the flash is finished.
8. Reboot the device, and it will take 5 minutes for its first run.
Update via SafeStrap
This manual update will require a Safestrap application and the flashable stock zip package.
1. Switch off the device.
2. Turn on the device. And press the Menu key to select Safestrap.
3. In the Safestrap recovery mode, go to "Boot Options" and select "Stock ROM", then "Activate".
4. Go back and select "Install". Select the stock zip package flashable with Safestrap.
5. "Swipe to Confirm Flash".
6. Reboot the device and it is now updated.
