Android 4.1 Jelly Bean Software Upgrade for Sony Xperia TX Kicks Off
In February 2013, Xperia V and T went live on their Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update and Sony made a promise to Xperia TX users that they will be the next receiver. Sony kept their promise and the update has been available for several days!
The owners of Xperia TX can now install the Jelly Bean update for their devices using the Sony PC Companion software and receive all changes and improvements.
The new software brings a number of different Sony features and the rollout will continue to ramp up over this month and the next. Some of the new blended features with Android Jelly Bean for Sony Xperia TX includes:
- Update and more intuitive versions of Sony Media apps: Walkman, Album, and Movies
- Increased options for personalisation with new home screen experience for widgets, apps, shortcuts and 7 desktop panes.
- Actionable notifications
- Improved app organisation and search
- Improved camera with more intuitive viewfinder, auto scene setting, and front and back camera switching with one button
- Google Now
- Project Butter
As soon as the new firmware update is available for your device, you'll receive a notification on your phone and most cases the update is downloadable via OTA or in some instances the software package may only be accessible via PC Companion or Bridge for Mac.
How to Update
1. Visit the Sony Mobile Software Update Web site.
2. On the upper right part of the page, you can which phone you want to update if not displayed below.
3. Choose Xperia TX.
4. It transfer to another page with some details about the current software version, release date and how to check.
5. Click "Check for Updates" to allow the Sony server to read your device. Make sure to connect the device on your computer.
The availability and rollout schedule may differ depending on the locale and network carrier.
