Google has released Android 4.4 KitKat with Nexus 5. Afterwards, a range of Android devices started receiving the update. Recently, Google Nexus 4, 7 and 10 all received the update. Reports now say that LG's flagship handset, the G2 will also be getting the Android update. What can people expect from the Android 4.4 KitKat with LG?

Earlier in November, reports cited a leak from a French carrier SFR hinting that Android 4.4 KitKat will find its way to LG's G2 around December. While people will have to wait yet for official announcement from LG and Google, it seems that there are also reports saying the same thing in Canada. LG Canada has been hinting regarding the Android 4.4 KitKat update on LG's G2. The timeline, however, may not be what many of the users are wishing for.

MobileSyrup indicated in their report that they have gotten confirmation from Court Elliot of LG Canada saying that they plan to roll out the update around Q1 in 2014. This is farther than what most users are hoping. As the holidays come in, many people were hoping that they can update their G2 devices to the newest Android update. However, it seems people will have to wait until Q1 2014.

Specifically, the update will roll out around March. So that will be a few months late after the release of Android 4.4 KitKat. The report also said that LG will still need to give the update to the carriers so carriers in Canada and other parts of the world will have to wait until LG gives the word. All additional details will come directly from the company and not the carriers.

On the up side, it seems users can make the jump between Android 4.2.2 to Android 4.4 instead of going through Android 4.3. This means G2 users will have an advantage over other owners of LG handsets.

The Optimus G runs on Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean. Carriers will need to get approval from LG before they can carry out any updates.

Stay tuned for more announcements on the update.
