Android 4.4 Kitkat Roundup: Focus on Connected TV, Google Nexus 5 and Nexus 10 2
Google may be transforming Google Box with its upcoming Android 4.4 KitKat. According to reports, the Android 4.4 KitKat update may serve people's television more than their smartphones. As the market waits for Google's release, sources are saying the latest Android update will be more about Connected TV. What does this mean for users?
According to Korea's ETN News, Google's Android 4.4 Kitkat update will come with an interface intended to scale up smart TV connection. This means people can connect their portable devices like an Android tablet or smartphone to larger screen. The new feature promises improved interaction between these devices.
Users can have an easier time sharing content or information across all their devices.
Throughout the past few months, many reports have cited Google's venture into television. The company appears intent on finding itself living rooms across the globe. The company has already started on a number of television ventures like Google TV Smart system to Android TV. The tech giant has been successful with their Chromecast venture that analysts think it might be the motivation for this Android 4.4 KitKat update.
The last time the internet giant tried their hands on a specific Android and device interaction was through Honeycomb. The update offered services or functions linking smartphones and tablets. The Honeycomb appeared more like a test run before Ice Cream Sandwich came. This standardizes things throughout tablets and phones.
Google Nexus 5 and Nexus 10 2
Earlier this September, Google finally announced that they will be releasing Android 4.4 under KitKat's name instead of Key Lime Pie. Along with the announcement, came the market's hopes about the next Nexus 5 and Nexus 10 2.
October is coming to an end and Apple already announced their iPad Air and iPad Mini models. Google remains tightlipped about their device. Many sources believe that Google will announce or reveal their Google Nexus 10 2 or Nexus 10 2013 together with Nexus 5 to introduce the Android 4.4 KitKat OS.
While there are no confirmations, KitKat's Twitter account once hinted about an October 28 release. From history, Google previously released their first generation Nexus 10 last October 29. Looking at Google's record, it releases products within similar dates so the market will have to wait before October ends.
