Everyone is asking which devices are deserving to get Android 4.4 KitKat update as owners demand one. New information revealed an updated list of devices getting Android 4.4 in late 2013 or early 2014.

HTC Smartphones

HTC One are now getting the taste of brand new Android dessert starting with the Google Play Edition followed by Developer edition and then in the HTC Sense variant with a deadline up to January 2014.

HTC One Max and Mini are expected to get an update as well but no specific date or time has been announced as of yet.

HTC Droid DNA is confirmed to get Android 4.4 KitKat, according to latest tweet from HTC America. The update is coming at the end of first quarter 2014. Owners should have to wait till the pending certifications per network carrier have been approved.

Android 4.4 KitKat from HTC includes the updated Sense 5.5 UI that upgrades HTC Zoe and BlinkFeed features.

Samsung Decides on Something

As HTC is working hard to release Android 4.4 updates, Samsung will soon announce KitKat rollout plans. According to CNET, Samsung will confirm the details "in due course" for Android 4.4.

Some of the devices getting the update firsthand are Galaxy S4, Galaxy Note 3 and the former flagships Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2.

Right now, Samsung is busy dealing with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update issue plaguing owners of Galaxy S3 in the United Kingdom. Android 4.3 update is currently on hold until a fix has been made.

Motorola X and G Phones

Moto X phone owners can now get Android 4.4 KitKat starting from Verizon Wireless. In addition, Moto G is also getting Android 4.4 before January 2014, while other Motorola smartphones such as Droid Mini, Droid Ultra and Droid Maxx have been included to the list except no schedules have been announced yet.

Motorola smartphones running Android 4.4 KitKat gets upgrade from apps to user interface plus enhancements to the "Touchless Control" feature.

Sony Xperia Line

Sony already announced Android 4.4 KitKat update plans after the recent listing of Android 4.3-eligible Xperia devices. Android 4.4 will start off with the Xperia Z series such as Xperia Z, Xperia Z1, Xperia Z Ultra, Xperia ZL and Xperia Tablet Z.

Xperia ZR and Xperia SP weren't included to the initial list which may indicate another announcement of the second batch next year.

Android 4.3 Jelly Bean is scheduled to be released on Xperia Z series, Xperia SP, Xperia T, Xperia TX and Xperia V starting on December 2013.

LG G2 and Optimus Line

LG made the Android 4.4 KitKat-running Nexus 5 but it seems like other LG phones are on diet, avoiding sugar rush. No official announcements have been released by the company, and it is unknown when LG G2 will be getting an update or if LG G Pad 8.3 tablet begins on Android 4.4.

There is no immediate need for LG to push updates since Nexus 5 runs it already in contrast with LG G2, just to separate the two flagship smartphones. If there is an upcoming update plan, a probable announcement may happen early next year.

Huawei Goes Android 4.4

Huawei confirmed on Weibo that Ascend P6 smartphone is skipping Android 4.3 update and jumping to Android 4.4 KitKat instead. Official Android 4.4 upgrade for the device is expected to be ready by January 2014, but distribution of the firmware isn't confirmed if global.

Nexus Devices

Nexus 7 2012 and 2013 already received updates and Nexus 4 just began getting its new OS version, but Nexus 10 seems to have Android 4.4.1 KitKat version for a specific function.

Android 4.4.1 source code for Nexus 10 sets a "false" on the translucent status and navigations bars due to some conflicts with the hardware. Developers can still tweak it if they wanted the feature turned on.

Google Nexus 10 second-generation is another qualified device to run Android 4.4 KitKat expected to be released later in November 2013.
