New Android KitKat build KOT31B leaked out in the Chromium issue tracker and revealed as a week-old firmware version. Is this the upcoming Android 4.4.1 KitKat OS?

Android 4.4.1 KOT31B Firmware Build

In Sept., Google made Android 4.4 KitKat official as the next-generation and major Android update. Just recently, Google revealed all the outstanding features of Android 4.4 KitKat exclusive on Nexus 5 and arriving later among other Nexus and Google Play edition devices.

Now, a leak from Chromium issue tracker revealed a new Android KitKat with KOT31B build number which fuels speculation of Android 4.4.1 version coming soon. This firmware build may be an update Google hasn't announced yet which may contain bug fixes, improvements and security patches.

Normally, major update may contain bugs depending on the target device and once it is implemented by the system which already happened with iOS 7. In response to a possible problematic major update, Google may have prepared 4.4.1 KitKat software hidden somewhere, ready to take on serious complaints from Nexus device users and other Android-powered device owners.

However, Google hasn't confirmed anything yet regarding 4.4.1 but we can expect something they are preparing for both bug issues and new improvements not found in the initial KitKat version.

In comparison with build version, new Nexus 5 smartphone runs Android 4.4 with build KRT16M while the new version has been dubbed KOT13B and according to Myce, it is just a week old. There is no information yet what could KOT13B build or 4.4.1 would bring to Nexus 5, Nexus 7, Nexus 4 and Nexus 10 devices once released.

Possible Encounters with Android 4.4 KitKat

Everyone is expecting some issues or needs improvement with Android 4.4 KitKat and Google would likely release an update about, similar with Android ICS and Jelly Bean.

1. Application Issues
Some apps are not working in certain devices or models in specific territories. Another possible bug is the contradiction of apps that supposed to be working fine during the test.

2. Battery Drain
A very common problem after an update which usually fixed by "Battery Re-calibration" to reset battery information whenever a new firmware or ROM has been installed.

3. Network Problems
Some users may experience low signal, slow data transfer or LTE problems with Android 4.4. Causes of these issues vary from territory to the model variant of each device.

4. Touch Response
Although Android 4.4 brings improvement with touch response; we cannot tell for sure that all devices running it won't suffer any issue especially on older devices. Google will address this if any problem has been found.

5. Wireless Connectivity
Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and NFC may be topics of certain bugs after Android 4.4 KitKat update which Google is gearing up to ensure that a new update will be available soon to resolve bugs.
