Android 4.4 KitKat finally reached Nexus 4, Nexus 7 and Nexus 10 devices bringing incremental changes and features. However, Android 4.4.1 KitKat is expected to come out soon due to several glitches on the initial KitKat version. Here are five things why Nexus users should demand for a newer Android KitKat version.

Expanded Update

Certain devices are not considered to get an update such as Galaxy Nexus which reached the 18-month window. Android 4.4 KitKat redeems optimisation among older devices, but owners of these Android gadgets are left to resort to custom ROMs.

Hopefully, Google will make something for aged devices such as a hybrid version or make Android 4.4.1 compatible. Segmented firmware via Google apps didn't seem to appeal to many users since not all from Android KitKat has been made available such as Google Home Experience.

Freedom of Choice

Unfortunately, non-Nexus users are left to wait for software updates from manufacturers without any exact idea if there is one coming. It would be better if these Android users can get something from Google with Vanilla Android 4.4 compatible to general devices just to have the latest OS.

Branded user interface locked owners and suspended somehow the freedom of choice to get upgrades. Resorting to custom ROMs can endanger the device and void warranties that are active.

Android 4.4 Bugs and Glitches

Some bugs and glitches have been exposed on devices running the latest Android 4.4 KitKat. Tech Crunch revealed the playback issue on Nexus 7 that hurt the tablet's overall performance. Unfortunately, there is no permanent fix yet on the said technical problem.

Nexus 4, 5 and 7 are also notified having terrible syncing on email app which might have been better on Android Jelly Bean. IT departments revealed that the fix isn't applicable for everyone, while Google is still pinpointing the source of the technical issue.

Battery life is another blow on Android 4.4 KitKat that should feature better power management than previous Android OS. Nexus devices running the latest Android version reported problems on huge battery drain and there is no exact solution as well.

HTC One Google Play Edition

HTC One Google Play Edition may be the first to receive an Android 4.4.1 KitKat upgrade which makes Nexus 5 owners sad. According to leakster LlabTooFeR, the HTC One smartphone variant has been chosen to get Android 4.4.1 in the near future.

Google is still quite regarding Android 4.4.1, but the software version has been exposed before to run Nexus 10 first generation to fix transparent status bar.

Bring Back the Good Days

Android Jelly Bean gave users had features which made devices feel great such as Project Butter, Bluetooth Smart and Actionable Notifications. Even most of these features from Jelly Bean have been dragged to KitKat; some may be missing that caused several bugs on the current version.
