Google released Android 4.4.2 on Dec 9, 2013 and is now rolling out among non-Nexus devices such as LG G Pad 8.3, HTC One, Samsung Galaxy S4 and Sony Xperia Z Ultra Google Play Editions. Know the changes on these devices and other possible eligible models getting the upgrade.

LG G Pad 8.3

Android 4.4.2 KitKat for LG G Pad 8.3 is downloadable via Over-the-Air (OTA) update with build number KOT49H and will consume around 52 MB on the internal storage. Due to its small size, no noticeable changes are seen and may have indicated the standard performance, stability and bug fixes on the G Pad.

HTC One

Right after Nexus devices received the new update, the HTC One GPE followed, and according to Android Central, HTC Dev has posted the appropriate framework support files of around 468 MB in size for the Android 4.4.2 build. Users of the Google Play edition HTC One may download the latest KitKat version via OTA on the device's settings.

Samsung Galaxy S4

Another Google Edition smartphone, the Galaxy S4, received an Android 4.4.2 KitKat version with 57.5 MB size and firmware build I9505GUEUCML4 available as an OTA update. The update mostly delivers bug fixes and security enhancements over the risky Android 4.4 reported SMS hack, but other than that, nothing else is noticeable.

Sony Xperia Z Ultra

Joining other Google Play edition devices is the Sony Xperia Z Ultra, and the update comes with a number of bug fixes such uninstall apps downloaded from Play Store, restarting UI, security section access and Google Now voice commands issues. Unlike with the G Pad and the Galaxy S4, the Xperia Z Ultra Android 4.4.2 update sizes up to 444 MB, almost similar to the HTC One. It is downloadable via OTA procedure.

Android 4.4.2 KitKat may not be exclusive to Nexus and GPE devices for long, since the initial release of 4.4 contains critical bugs requiring immediate fix.
