Android 5.0 Extremely Optimised to Run Smartphones at Least 3 Years Old; Will it be Official by October?
Google is now doing the overall Android device iteration to prepare for the arrival of Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie after Android 4.3 is released. Rumour now hints that Android 5.0 is going to be released on October this year and has been extremely optimised to run phone with low memory.
Extreme Optimisation
Android phones which are almost obsolete may have a chance not only to receive Android 4.3 update but also Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie upgrade. According to the VR-Zone, Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie is a much optimised build of Android OS and could possibly work on devices with low memory such as having 512 RAM only. If so, Android running phones released at least three years go should be able to run Android 5.0.
Google's next big push may even affect devices running Android 2.3 Gingerbread, Android 3.0 and Android 4.0 versions with only one condition - at least 512 RAM. If this leak is true, Google is going to the same strength of Apple's iOS and Microsoft's Windows Phone of having an optimised operating system.
Fragmentation of Android Devices
Android 4.3 is indeed a good short-term solution for the fragmentation of Android devices in terms of manufacturer and hardware. Due to overpopulation of Android phones & tablets, Google is having a hard time to make all of them compatible and optimised to the upcoming Android version in the future.
And so, Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie being delayed opened a solution which iOS and Windows Phone does all the time - optimised OS for all.
Release Dates and First-born Devices
October 2013 is the hinted launching date of the Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie and a handful of devices are rumoured to be running the upcoming Android OS. Android phones such as Nexus 5, Nexus 7 and Moto X Phone are among the top list of the first-born. Others included to the list would be Samsung Galaxy S4, Galaxy Note 3, Xperia ZU and many more which will receive the update eventually.
