Android 5.0 Lollipop Features Multiple User Profile Support, Allows Different Users To Create Exclusive User Profiles On Android Device
The new Android OS upgrade which was dubbed as Android L has finally launched as Android Lollipop. The new upgrade comes with a vast array of new features. It comes preinstalled on the Google Nexus 6 and Google Nexus 9 tablet.
One of the striking features of Android L is the support for creating multiple user accounts. Users will be able to create different accounts and sign-in into their profiles by entering password. The feature for making multiple user profiles has been available for Android 4.2 tablet users. The feature was not available for smartphones. However, with the arrival of Android Lollipop, the multiple user profile support will come to Android smartphones.
According to Android Pit, when many users started complaining about the lack of creating multiple profiles for different users Android on smartphones, the development team at Android responded by stating that the feature will be made available in the next public build. The feature has finally arrived as promised on Android 5.0 Lollipop.
As far as tablets are concerned, the multiple-user support on Android 4.2 consumed a lot of storage space. This time around, with the Android L release, developers will bring a much improved version of multiple-user profiles for tablets.
Recent smartphones Samsung Galaxy S5 come with a "kids mode," which allow parents to safely share their handsets with kids by making them access only certain features on their handsets. Now this feature is expected to come inbuilt with the Android L release.
The Android Lollipop will be first available for existing Nexus devices followed by GPE edition handsets and recent Motorola handsets. Gradually, the Android Lollipop upgrade will be made available to smartphones from other brands. Newer handsets like Motorola Droid Turbo will arrive with preloaded Android Lollipop OS.
Motorola devices like Moto X (1st and 2nd gen), Moto G (1st and 2nd gen), Moto E, Droid Ultra, Droid Maxx and Droid Mini are the ones to get Android L update. HTC has officially confirmed that the Android L will be available for HTC One M8, HTC One M7, HTC One Max, and HTC One Mini.
