LG Nexus 5 is upgradable to Android 5.0 Lollipop OS which updates the notifications centre, accessibility settings, privacy level and management of battery life. Here are the easy tips users can do on these new features.

Notifications: New Mechanics And Lock Screen Interactions

Notifications will now appear directly on the lock screen and users can interact with them. Double tap on a notification to open the respective app to respond or delete without unlocking the screen or dismiss each notification by swiping left or right. Users can also pull down the Status Bar to view all notifications with an option to dismiss all of them located at the bottom of the list.

Accessibility: Colour Correction And High Contrast Text

Colour correction is now supported by Android 5.0 Lollipop for users with colour blindness. Go to Settings > Accessibility > Colour Correction then choose among three modes that suits the eyesight. Text on icons can also be adjusted by using the High Contrast located in the Accessibility section for those with low vision.

Privacy And Security: User Accounts, SELinux And Notification Contents

Android 5.0 Lollipop added several features to improve privacy and security levels on upgraded devices such as LG Nexus 5. Guest User Mode enables the owner to let friends or family members use the smartphone without worrying about private contents or apps. It can also prevent others from making calls or sending messages without the owner's approval.

For managing contents of notifications displayed on the lock screen, go to Settings > Sounds and Notifications > then select among three options which are Show All, Hide Sensitive Contents or Don't Show Notifications At All. In terms of security, SELinux implementation increases protection of data stored against vulnerabilities and malware attacks.

Project Volta: Extending And Monitoring Battery Life

Android 5.0 Lollipop comes with a native battery saver to extend battery life by up to 90 minutes. Pull down the Notifications Shade and tap on the battery icon then select the three dots at the top of the screen to view the Battery Saver. Users can turn it on manually to extend battery life or set it to automatic mode to conserve power whenever the battery level hits a specific percentage. If the battery saver is not in automatic mode, a notification will appear on the screen whenever the battery level drops to 15 percent.
