Google finally broke its silence as it unveiled the Android 5.0 Lollipop features. Although the update has yet to be released in November, experts commend Google for striking the right balance between functionality and design. The software's Material Design and accounts integration should also boost its position as a major mobile operating systems platform.

Apple has dominated intuitive design for many years leaving Google to solve its fragmented structure. Recent information reveals that Android may not be a fragmented anymore and the mobile OS has now stepped up to the design challenge. According to Forbes, Android's 5.0 Lollipop update promises a robust component library that can harmonize third party and in-house apps. However, it may take some time for Google to address the swift upgrade across devices entirely though necessary steps have been made.

The Droid Life calls the new Google mobile OS UI "beautiful." Aesthetics has not been the strongest part of the Android platform but Material Design is quickly changing that. Google revamped all the menus including floating buttons to develop new icons like Reminders. People can also find the hamburger menu by sliding it from the edge. This sports a fresh rotating arrow animation proving Android's new focus.

Google Now and Android 5.0 have gained a comparative advantage over competitors in terms of data amount and content presentation according to Forbes. Many reports commend Google Now and Search to offer more accurate results than other platforms.

Google has been changing its game offering a sneak peak of the Android 5.0 Lollipop Material Design and accounts but refusing to release the updated apps. Android Geeks noted that people can expect the updated apps to launch following the official release of the Android 5.0. Some programs in line for the new design philosophy include Play Newsstand, Play Movies and Play Store.

Reports also pointed a new UI feature that will make it more convenient for people to handle their email accounts even from third party providers. The upcoming Gmail integration will allow users to switch from Outlook and Yahoo in a swift by just swiping. Android Police did not create the Gmail 5.0 APK despite offering a sneak peak. People will have to wait for the official release this November to take advantage of Lollipop's features and promises.
