The official Android One page now confirms that the new Android One smartphones will be shipped with the latest Android 5.1 Lollipop. The new version of Android arrives while the existing smartphones are being updated to various builds like 5.0 Lollipop, 5.0.1 Lollipop and 5.0.2 Lollipop.

Phone Arena says without making any media announcement, Google has silently released the Android 5.1 Lollipop today. The Android One webpage on Indonesian website not only reveals the arrival of the Android 5.1 Lollipop but also indicates that the new build is will arrive preloaded on the low-end Android smartphones namely, Nexian, Mito and Evercoss.

In December 2014, the International Business Times had published that the Android 5.1 Lollipop release date is set for February. The post reveals that the new build offers better RAM and battery management and addresses several other issues like Wi-Fi connectivity problems, unexpected crashing of apps and more. It is also said to bring the silent mode feature that was removed in the Android 5.0 Lollipop update. As of this writing, Google has not released an official changelog that will reveal all the Android 5.1 Lollipop features. All the above mentioned features are leaked information that has not been confirmed by Google. The Verge claims that the Android 5.1 Lollipop is currently being rolled out for Asian markets like Indonesia where Google is selling Android One handsets.

There is no speculation or official announcement on when the update will be released to other Android smartphones. Forbes says that Android Pit has also come across Android 5.1 test builds for Nexus 5 (build number – LMY29C), Nexus 6 (build number – LMY22E) and Nexus 9 (build number – LMY22E). ZDNet claims that Android 5.1 Lollipop may arrive on Nexus 5, Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 shortly.
