Android 5.2 Lollipop For Google Nexus 5 Spotted
On Feb 18, the International Business Times had published that the Android 5.1 Lollipop build was spotted for the Nexus 5 through Geekbench benchmark listing on its website. Newer listing of the Nexus 5 on Geekbench’s website shows the device listed with the mysterious Android 5.2 Lollipop version.
The Geekbench benchmark report for LG Nexus 5 published on Feb 17 shows that the device managed to score 934 and 2992 on single-core and multi-cores speed tests, respectively. The system information of the device shows that it is running on an unannounced software version of Android 5.2.
LG Nexus 5’s Geekbench listing on Feb 16 shows that it scored 907 and 2997 on single and multi-cores speed tests, respectively. However, the device was found to be running on Android 5.1.
The Nexus devices are the first ones to receive newer software updates than any other smartphone or tablet available in the market. GSM Arena claims that the news about Android 5.2 seems strange as the rumoured Android 5.1 update has not reached the audience yet.
Another strange listing that was seen on Geekbench’s benchmark listing is the Sony Xperia Z2 running on Android 420 version. It recorded 837 and 2272 single and multiple cores scores, respectively. Phone Arena claims that the unknown build listed for Xperia Z2 appears to be a technical error. As far as Android 5.2 for Nexus 5 is concerned, GSM Arena states that a customized ROM may have been used during the testing to intentionally list the device with false edition of Android.
Most of the smarpthones from major brands are still in the process of getting updated with Android 5.0 Lollipop, 5.0.1 Lollipop and 5.0.2 Lollipop firmware. The LG Nexus 5 is currently running on Android 5.0 Lollipop and the Sony Xperia Z2 is likely to receive the same update within this month.
As of this writing, there has been no official announcement on the arrival of Android 5.1. The Android 5.1 Lollipop is speculated to improve the battery performance and RAM management of the device. It is also pegged to bring the silent mode feature that was removed in Android 5.0 Lollipop build.
