Android 6.0 Marshmallow OTA update for Samsung Galaxy smartphones: Find out when you can expect it
Samsung is about to release the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for a slew of Galaxy smartphones, and a leaked roadmap has revealed when these Galaxy series smartphones will receive the Android 6.0 upgrade.
The Android 6.0 Marshmallow software update comes with the latest addition of TouchWiz UI from Samsung. The upgrade is officially available for unlocked variants of the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge smartphones in the US and South Korea. Samsung has not release thed Android 6.0 update for any of its Galaxy series smartphones in Australia.
According to Phone Arena, Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge users across the world will be updated to Android 6.0 this March. The software upgrade will be also hitting Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+ smartphones within the month.
The 2014 flagships, Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and Note Edge, are also poised to be upgraded to Android 6.0 in April. The Samsung Galaxy S5 is slated to receive Android 6.0 update in May, the same month the 8-inch and 9.7-inch variants of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 would be receiving the latest Android build.
In June, the Samsung Galaxy Alpha is expected to receive the most recent Android software. The South Korean tech giant is also going to release Android 6.0 Marshmallow update to other Galaxy smartphones as well such as 2016 editions of the Galaxy A7, Galaxy A5 and Galaxy A3.
The Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge smartphones that were officially unveiled last month come preinstalled with Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS. It is accompanied with the latest version of TouchWiz UI.
Customers who preorder the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, which went on preorders from Feb. 23 in 60 launch markets including Australia, can get a free Samsung Gear VR headset that costs $159. Local customers can preorder both the smartphones through Telstra, Optus, Virgin Mobile and Vodafone.
