Android 6.0 Marshmallow update coming to Sony Xperia Z5 in January 2016
Marshmallow isn't an incremental update over Lollipop
The Sony Xperia Z5 series will taste its first flavours of the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update in January, just a few weeks from now. A recent tweet from Ricciolo (@Ricciolo1) on microblogging site Twitter hinted at the January release.
While a slew of Android OEMs like HTC and Samsung are on the verge of getting updates to the world’s most popular OS, Asus, OnePLus and Motorola have officially announced their schedules for the new OS update.
This means Sony Xperia Z mobile owners will start receiving Marshmallow update notifications from next month and can start enjoying the OS’s many features and useful options, reports Android Headlines.
Some might argue that Marshmallow’s nothing more than an incremental update over Lollipop, but the former includes a handful of nifty features like internal support for a fingerprint scanner, more invigorating volume controls, Google Now on Tap and all-new app drawer, reports Android Authority.
The most intriguing of all is the battery saving feature called ‘Doze’ that puts a phone to sleep when the phone’s not in use, or when a phone’s running low-priority apps. A piece of good news is the latest Marshmallow update supports 4K display resolution.
Since battery issues are a persistent concern in smartphones, the new Android OS is expected to bring revolutionary and improved changes. Sony promised exceptional battery life in its Z5 series when it launched the smartphones. The Marshmallow update will help it function even better.
Furthermore, the new Marshmallow update offers excellent support for high native resolution. The 4K display in the Sony Xperia Z5 series unleashes four times better resolution than a full HD screen. The new Marshmallow update’s going to boost overall performance in the Sony’s Z5 phones, and that makes waiting for it worthwhile.
