Several smartphone OEMs are now simultaneously rolling out Android 6.0 Marshmallow updates for their devices. Xiaomi too has joined the bandwagon and has revealed that it will be soon be releasing Android 6.0 update for smartphones like Mi 4, Mi Note and Mi 3.

According to Gizmo China, the MIUI operations manager from Xiaomi has revealed on Weibo that the Android 6.0 upgrade is in final testing stages and it will be soon be made available for the users of Xiaomi Mi 4, Xiaomi Mi Note and Xiaomi Mi 3. A leaked screenshot of the update that has surfaced shows that the size of the update is 518 MB.

The update will not bring along a newer MIUI interface. It means that it will MIUI 7 ROM based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow update. According to GSM Arena, the update seems to be in its beta stage and is likely to contain bugs. The final update is expected to release in few months. The stable release would probably arrive as OTA update.

NDTV has reported that the same MIUI operations manager had proclaimed at the start of December that the Mi 4 and Mi Note smartphones will be one of the first Xiaomi devices to receive Android 6.0 Marshmallow update. Now, the Xiaomi Mi 3 smartphone has joined the duo to become the first devices from the Chinese firm to receive Android 6.0 upgrade.

According to BGR, when the Chinese frim had first showcased the MIUI 7 ROM, several Xiaomi fans were dejected as the update was based on Android 4.4. KitKat and not the recent Android 5.0 Lollipop update. Rumours are swirling that the Xiaomi smartphones running on Android 4.4. KitKat is likely to get updated to Android 6.0 by skipping the Android 5.0 Lollipop update. The update is likely to carry inbuilt themes, a lock screen wallpaper that changes on daily basis, and child lock option for apps.
