The update will be made available in the coming weeks
On Oct. 6, Sony revealed the list of Xperia smartphones and tablets that will receive the newest Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS upgrade but without revealing a proper timeframe. Fresh rumours suggest the roll-out of the Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS for Xperia devices is likely to begin before the end of the year.
Sony has already started to release the concept build of the Android 6.0 for the Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3 Compact, reported the official Sony Mobile blog. The test build (MRA58K.Z1.2085) isn’t available to all users but to a select number of users.
The new improvements available on it include support for more bit rates for FLAC audio files, support for MIDI through USB, an updated keyboard and Tap-to-wake.
The update will be made available to other Xperia smartphones and tablets in the coming weeks, Xperia Blog reported. A leakster revealed the Stamina Mode will be enhanced on the newly released Sony Xperia Z5 series smartphones, according to Phone Arena. The Stamina Mode is an exclusive feature on Xperia devices known to significantly improve battery performance by cutting down on background activities.
The following Xperia Z series devices are officially confirmed on the Sony Mobile blog to receive the Android 6.0 update: Xperia Z5, Z5 Compact, Z5 Premium, Xperia Z4 Tablet, Xperia Z3+, Z3, Z3 Compact, Z3 Tablet Compact, Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z2 Tablet.
The other Xperia handsets slated to be blessed with the latest Android build include Xperia M5, Xperia M4 Aqua, Xperia C4, and Xperia C4 Ultra.
The older handsets like the Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z Ultra GPE are also poised to receive the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update.
The Xperia Z series smartphones and tablets will start receiving the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update before the end of 2015, according to Venture Capital Post. Other devices should be updated to Android 6.0 in January 2016.
